Guest guest
Marilyn, I was on methimazole, but I believe PTU has the same side effects. You are supposed to report a sore throat to your doctor. The same for yellowing of the skin and eyes,(jaundice). If you get a fever of over 100*, you are supposed to go to your urgent care center right away. If I am wrong on this someone please correct me, or if someone can expand on this please do. I know these medicines can cause some mild reactions in some people, then it goes away after awhile. But to be on the safe side, any reaction that can be related to medicine should be reported to your doc. I hope this helps!!! Deb

Guest guest
We have learned if you have these symptoms,(sore throat, jaundice, and a fever), this is a sign of liver toxicity...most likely, the meds you are taking is causing damage to your liver, this is an emergency situation and you should call your doctor right away. chie. --- jacksue7@... wrote: > Marilyn, > > I was on methimazole, but I believe PTU has the same > side effects. Guest guest
Thanks for the replies. I was aware of reporting sore throat, fever, and jaundice, but my throat isn't real, real sore, just feels more on the dry, parched side. It hurts to swallow because of this " dry " feeling. My tongue and lips are still experiencing this slight burning sensation. I know that PTU can cause mouth sores...I have none. I haven't had any temp. I will give the doc a call on Monday if things stay the way they are, if they worsen any, I will TRY to reach him over the weekend! Thanks again. Guest guest
Hi Marilyn, I had RAI in '96 <regretted still> and I have the dry throat. It is worse at night for me, and sometimes my tongue will get so dry it swells during the night, but only half of it. If I am sleeping on my right side, it is the left side of my tongue and left/ right. A while ago Val did a post on a toothpaste, here is a paste of what she said... >>>Anyhow on the package it says it helps with dry mouth and cracked lips >>>associated with autoimmune disorders. And I'm here to tell you all, it >>>works!!! My lips haven't been chapped or cracked since I switched 4 days ago. Here's the clincher though, 7 bucks a tube!<<<. Here is what Pam B had to say about it after starting it... >>>I bought some last weekend and I LOVE it!!! Thank you Val for posting >>>about it! I have had canker soars for the last month as well as the >>>chapped lips. My canker soars are GONE! My lips still have a little >>>healing to do, but they are much better. And the toothpaste tastes good >>>and my teeth feel really clean after. And this is weird, but my mouth feels wetter - the toothpaste says it is for dry mouth - I never thought that I had dry mouth... but there is definitely a difference going on in there!<<< I had to special order mine, the drug store called me on Wed. that it is finally in....only took a month! So I shall get mine this weekend and give it a try. So this may be something to look into for yourself also. Hope this info will help, Jody PS Wegmans pharmacy is the only one in my area that would special order this for me. _________________________________________________________________ Join the world’s largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com

Guest guest
Jody, The Feelrite Stores have a funky pink toothpaste called " Weleda. " Its not very tasty but it has no SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) which is listed in most toothpaste as " detergent. " In fact this one is the only one on the shelf at that store that doesn't have it. Seems to me it must be a problem with lots of people or it wouldn't be recognized as a benefit to keep it out. This stuff is also sugar free and claims to have no synthetic preservatives, no saccharine, no artificial colors, no chemical whiteners. The package mentions Rudolf Steiner as though you are supposed to know who that was. I guess he was Swiss. It also mentions Waldorf education and biodynamic agriculture which developed out of his work. I think I'll go look this up. Guest guest
Rudolf Steiner started the Waldorf system at the turn of the last century-ish. I've read a bit about it though my memories are vague - some positive stuff, some strange stuff (they teach reading very, very late, e.g.), not to mention that there are philosophical/religious underpinings to his methodology along with some classical 19th century German thinking that the Nazis glommed onto (NOT THAT I'M EQUATING THE TWO!!). My point being, what does he have to do with toothpaste?? Take care, Fay ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO!
