Guest guest
Rudolf Steiner started the Waldorf system at the turn of the last century-ish. I've read a bit about it though my memories are vague - some positive stuff, some strange stuff (they teach reading very, very late, e.g.), not to mention that there are philosophical/religious underpinings to his methodology along with some classical 19th century German thinking that the Nazis glommed onto (NOT THAT I'M EQUATING THE TWO!!). My point being, what does he have to do with toothpaste?? Take care, Fay ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Guest guest
Fay, Not sure that he has anything at all to do with toothpaste. Just happens that the brand name of the toothpaste (purchased at a green store) stated that the company was formed by a " group of physicians working with Rudolf Steiner. " I just got curious. Thanks, Laurel Re: burning sensation Rudolf Steiner started the Waldorf system at the turn of the last century-ish. Guest guest
Just be aware that a sore throat is also a symptom of hyperthyroid. Don't automatically think you can't take the ATDs or let your doctor use that as an excuse that you need RAI. If the sore throat is severe, then you definitely need to get your white blood cells checked. Chances are, though, it's just the hyperthyroidism. Holly Re: burning sensation Marilyn, I was on methimazole, but I believe PTU has the same side effects. You are supposed to report a sore throat to your doctor. The same for yellowing of the skin and eyes,(jaundice). If you get a fever of over 100*, you are supposed to go to your urgent care center right away. If I am wrong on this someone please correct me, or if someone can expand on this please do. I know these medicines can cause some mild reactions in some people, then it goes away after awhile. But to be on the safe side, any reaction that can be related to medicine should be reported to your doc. I hope this helps!!! Deb

Guest guest
Dear Carol, I'm sorry you are having some trouble with food and the burning feeling in your stomach. Could it be heartburn? Try getting a prescription from your doc if he/she feels that could be it. I havent had heartburn since my surgery, so I was fortunate not to experience that my whole pregnancy. But, I would check with your doctor in case it is something else too. Hope you feel better soon! Marcy Burning Sensation Hello! Although I am not new to the group this is my first time posting. I am about 8 weeks pregnant. My first 5 weeks were great and then in the 6th week I hit the brick wall. I am having a lot of trouble eating and keeping food down and have lost about 6-7 lbs. My sickness really seems to kick into gear about mid-afternoon and into the evening however I am having a lot of problems with a really bad burning sensation in my stomach, so much so it wakes me up in the middle of the night when it seems to be really bad. Has anyone else experienced this? Maalox antacid tablets alleviate the buring a little but it's always there. Also, would a meal replacement drink be okay to supplment my diet at the moment? I know I am not getting near enough the nutrients that I should right now. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Carol

Guest guest
Heartburn and digestive upset seem to be very common in preggos... LOL... I had never had heartburn in my entire life and so was quite humiliated when I called my dad (who's a doctor) to tell him that I thought I was having a heart attack and he told me to take a Tums. LOLOLOL Also, about the meal replacement stuff, just make sure it isn't so sugary that it sends you into dumping. Sugary or starchy things can also aggravate heartburn and indigestion (although if you're having morning sickness, a few soda crackers can do wonders). Lots of post-WLSrs continue their protein shakes during pregnancy with no problems, but you need to keep in mind that protein shakes are hard on the kidneys, and pregnancy is also hard on kidneys, so be sure you're getting plenty of fluids to keep you flushed out. When in doubt, of course, check with your doc. If your Ob/Gyn isn't familiar with WLS, however, his advice might not be entirely accurate for your situation (the glucose challenge test, for example), so try to stay informed and provide him with information if necessary. -Kris > > Reply-To: OSSG-pregnant > Date: Tue, 03 Dec 2002 21:24:24 -0000 > To: OSSG-pregnant > Subject: Burning Sensation > > Hello! > > Although I am not new to the group this is my first time posting. > > I am about 8 weeks pregnant.
