Thanks Luna. Kava Kava has been banned in Canada because of toxic production techniques. My brother and I used to use it and this Dr. talks about it A LOT! Yes it amazingly hard to lose a parent you adore, but now I see one of the reasons for his suffering. We adore him so much, we could not bear to see him suffer. If he would have been taken instantly, like a heart attack or accident, I think all of us would snap! We couldn't bear losing him along with all the other crisises at once, therefore, He had to suffer for a little while, so that we would be willing to let him go, just to stop him from suffering. The memorial was a beautiful celebration of his life, not weepy or sad or dark at all. I also found out that I had more friends than I ever knew of before, so it was a gift for all of us. Now I need to try to keep this body conscious (keep passing out because of lupus pain and diabetes) and try to recover physically from doing more in 3 weeks than I have done in 10 years, and we all need to learn how to start a new life without Dad. Also I have to keep thinking positively about my husband so he won't be killed in the war zone. I'm not in the mood to lose a husband and a father all at once...but I have learned that I am stronger than I ever thought, and every time I say "I can't do it"...I DO IT! Its been a great learning experience. Every time I try to predict how I would feel or react if a certain crisis happened to me, I was wrong, every time. When I thought I could handle it well, I fell apart. When I thought I would fall apart, I handled it well. I guess we just keep dealing with life 1 hour at a time. I appreciate your unbelievable loving support and light and love and teachings in this group. Keep looking up!Blessings, Sheila

My Beautiful Sister Sheila,My heart goes out to you, my sweet for I lost my Dad in '03 and it was sooooooo hard! Losing a parent, oh, there are just no words, the pain gets more tolerable but Never goes away. Just know please, that I am here for you as are so here in your family!! I thank you also for posting this message about this fine Dr. whom really seems to understand what Fibro is about. I think she is starting on the path that others doctors will hopefully follow. Yes, Valerian root for keeping calm is great! Have you possibly tried Kava Kava, dear *humble suggestion to your ever so helpful and amazing love* I thank you for posting a message here even tho your heart is hurting. I again wish to say I am here for you and thank you again for your love and sharing this information on Fibromyalgia, it is SO very much appreciated, dear one!! Namaste and hugs, Luna>> FINALLY SOME INFORMATION TO REALLY HELP FIBRO!> Not only fibro, but changing sleep habits can improve EVERYONE'S life, but since fibro is especially disabling, it is important for fibro patients to re-learn about sleep.> I am watching the best sleep documentary on public TV. This Dr. is called the sleep Dr. because he has saved marriages and saved lives by helping people change their sleep lives. He says he saved more marriages by being a sleep Dr. than by being a marriage counselor. His name is Dr. Breus. > Sleep science is a relatively new science, and N. America, UK and Australia have more fibro than the rest of the world. We are pushing ourselves harder and not taking care of ourselves. Not all countries have fibro. > YOU CAN CUT YOUR FIBRO SYMPTOMS IN HALF BY LEARNING THE RIGHT SLEEP HABITS FOR YOU, BECAUSE EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT.> He thinks that fibro has now become an epidemic because of all the toxic chemicals in our atmosphere, because of our toxic unhealthy habits, and foods, things that grandma knew as common sense, but those words of wisdom have not been passed down in the past 3 generations (about 40 years), and because of the lack of sleep and sleep habits. > The cause of fibro is that we don't get enough of stage 4 sleep, the healing stage of sleep, which heals your muscles and organs. Also without enough healthy sleep (not just sleeping pills), you can gain a lot of weight, because your body produces the weight control chemicals of leptin and if you are deprived of sleep, you get more cortisol, which keeps fat on you. Weight gain makes fibro worse, because being overweight messes up MORE body chemicals, which causes more fibro symptoms. They found that sleep is when your body creates more growth hormone, which is what heals the damage your body has gotten throughout the day, and keeps your skin looking young and you get less wrinkles.> If people get a sleep study done, some find that they only need 45 minutes more than they are getting now, in order to change their life. Some need 2 hours more. The over the counter sleeping pills and prescriptions do not allow your body to do the things it naturally does during sleep. There are only 4 herbs that are proven to do any good with helping with sleep. Lavender, chamomile, Valerian (I take this) and tryptophan or 5 HTP (I take tryptophan too.) Not enough sleep affects your thought processes, personality, irritability. If you drive and have gotten less than 6 hours sleep, you are legally drunk. If you took a test, you would fail the sobriety test. > Getting enough sleep can even improve your sex life, and getting enough sex has a number of other health benefits. Its no longer "not tonight I have a headache", Its now "Not tonight, I am just too tired" and we are hearing it from men just as much as from women.> Needing 8 hours of seep is a myth. Everyone's body is different. People have 5 sleep segments of about 90 minutes. The way to decide how much sleep you need, decide when you need to get up . If you have to get up at 7, you need to go to sleep at 11:00 to get enough of those sleep segments. There are ways to make over your bedroom for free to change your sleep. You need a dark bedroom or dark curtains. There are other hints in his website and book.> He says sleeping in late on the weekend makes things worse, because it throws off your body's cycle. Having a nap during the day is a better idea on your day off, instead of sleeping more. He does not say to get rid of the TV. Some actually need it to wind down, but he insists that it have a sleep button on it, so it will turn off 30 to 60 minutes after you try to go to sleep. He talks about mattresses and sheets and pillows that could change your life, and they are NOT the most expensive ones. He says to avoid polyester sheets. He explains the science why in his site and book.> You can cut your fibro symptoms in half by improving your sleep habits. He explains all the habits that can be changed, and which need to be changed for different types of people. He spoke so fast about the things to do to help you sleep better that I could not write it down fast enough. I would suggest looking online at Dr. Breus's website. http://www.yourbeautysleep.com/ He talks about sleep apnea and C-PAP machines etc. His book is called "Beauty sleep" but doesn't just talk about beauty. He has other gadgets that help with sleep also. The video I watched is called "Good night with the sleep Dr." Breus PH.D. Specialty is sleep. You can get a newsletter from his site that gives you all these tips month by month. He has a whole set called "The Complete Sleep Solution". He had people on TV whose lives had COMPLETELY changed from changing a few things about their sleep. He said he is teaching people to increase the QUALITY of their sleep, not necessarily the quantity of sleep. > Every solution is very very cheap and easy and does not take much time. I am looking forward to changing my life with this! Its so true that the health habits our grandmothers knew has not been passed down because of broken families and both parents having to work so the kids just did not get to learn all that they needed to, and the parents were/are too exhausted to teach the kids everything they used to get taught. His website is so great! It has TONS of great information. He talks about EVERY aspect of your life.>

Dearest LOVED Sheila, (also Hello again Luna dear one...)

I feel at a loss to express in words my feelings upon reading your

news and all that is still upon your placemat, let alone your

plate.

All I know to " do " is attempt to communicate to you now and here of

my heartfelt love for you across the miles and trials, and let you

know your life and challenges are a matter of fervent prayer and good

intent by me, and I feel confident to say, also by so many,

many " others " who read these experiences of yours, their hearts

twinging with the " ouch " of how it must feel, and yet, they many have

not known just WHAT to say, like me, in response, for Luna is such a

good one full of comfort right now, right here.

Many of us may feel we can only respond under our reading breath with

heartfelt mental confirmations of her assurances, as we silently,

whole heartedly offer yet more prayers for your precious life and all

the challenges you are coming through of late.

Great info about Fibro - and I might add whole and healthy foods,

cutting out sugars, white flours, food difficult to digest, and

anything and everything with chemical treatments could be a REAL plus

in finding peace from symtoms of Fibro along with quality rest/sleep.

It is good you have found yourself here, for many times, just before

I close my eyes in sleep, I listen to that little " voice " in my head,

after visiting this site, with so many prayer requests and loving and

helpful responses complete with awesom resources, and welcomes still

fresh in my memory, and still it seems I can hear ALL the love and

concern continually flowing from good hearts into this site, soft,

gentle, comforting " voices " being tapped upon the keys in the most

reverent and humble of ways, communications to one another in

whispers and sighs, and sweetness, and though my cmputer is off for

the day, the messages keep coming and it's as if I " read " them in my

minds eye as I dose off to dreams.

Then, drifting into slumber, it is as if I can feel vibrations of

light surrounding me, multi-colored and so beautiful, knowing we are

a vibrational family here, full of brothers and sisters of the

heart! In such knowingness there is great strength for endurance,

great love for healing of the wounds of the heart, and great

compassion to spread lavishly to so many of the places where

sometimes we may have wondered if there was any true brotherhood and

compassion left in the world.

Remember these things as you turn in for the night Sheila. Sweet

Sheila, please know you are precious and very, very loved.

Mitakuye Oyasin (we are all related)

Peaceable
