Hello and welcome!Yes, the scale is a tough customer and definitely has it's own unique Siren's song. I was a daily weigher, sometime 2-3 times a day and although I didn't realize it at the time, that number at it's tremulous and slight changes throughout the day had a lot of power over me. I use Geneen Roth primarily in my path with intuitive eating, as such I have a strong meditation practice and use meditation and inquiry today, when I want to slip into old "dieting" habits, as well as compulsive eating tendencies. Today, when I decide "it's a good idea to weigh myself," I pause and ask myself what's really going on. I've come to realize that weighing myself, counting calories, "dieting" is a distraction, an attempt to avoid something I don't want to feel, and so the desire to weigh myself or to eat when I'm not

hungry is really a red flag, giving me an opportunity to attend to myself. So, I think a suggestion would be to pause for a minute or two and bring yourself back into your body and just rest there. The scale, much like excess food, will not ease your mind, it will keep it in a state of unrest, come back to your body. I'm also making a commitment to do away with the following:1. weighing myself2. removing all "diet" books from my home3. no longer keeping a food journal (which for me is a trap leading to calorie counting)I hope this helps and welcome to you. I've been on this path for 4 years now, and there's real peace to be found in this path!Namaste!
