Guest guest
Yes Katcha,I strongly identify with this..in fact I'm working with this idea right now in my process. Geneen Roth talks about this idea of mind-hunger...for me my mind will "convince" my body that what it wants is nachos for dinner...that it wants chips...sometimes I will fall into the "diet" trap and make the big "all-organic-flax-seed-no-this-or-that" chips, but at the end of the day....it's chips, and my body never wants chips because they make me feel "stoned" and put me into a food coma...I'm really working with GR's Principle 5 - "Eat what your BODY wants". What my mind wants and what my body wants are not necessarily the same thing. GR did this great retreat session about the idea of deprivation and Principle 5...she talks about the 2 types of deprivation, feeling deprived of what our mind wants (in my case it's chips, crackers, sweet things) and feeling deprived of feeling well - which is exactly what I am deprived of when I eat these foods...it doesn't mean I don't eat these foods, but I know what I'm getting myself into when I eat them, and...as GR put it, "I'm depriving myself of what i really really want, which is to feel well". I have a long way to go in this area, but learning the difference between mind hunger and body hunger is really where the rubber meets the road for me!Namaste!
