I felt the same way. I just don't think labeling it is " greed " is helpful, and

very judgmental. do we need to be called more names like greedy? sorry to anyone

who likes the book, not for me.

> I tip-toed into that group (Diet Survivors) for a very short time when I first

started non-dieting and only remember that I found something 'odd' about it. Not

sure if it was quasi-rules (like you mention Alia), or just a personal reaction

to a different method, but I know I didn't stay long.

Hmmm. If she's positing greed as part of the problem with overeating I'll just

chuck the judgement free, kindness approach; after all it's far easier for me to

judge myself than be nice anyway.

And, I guess that means my older brother was right when he was yelling, " Pig,

pig, pig! " when I was snacking as a kid.

Well, hopefully, it will have a point or two worth considering; it was only a

couple of bucks for me and is currently on the way from some warehouse

somewhere. Y'know, you just gotta maintain a sense of humor around some of the

ideas people proffer.

For me, IE is the cleanest and most balanced of the books I've seen and I

totally LOVE the cd. Didn't realize I was such an audio learner; I'm hearing

things I've either forgotten or overlooked in the book. It's well worth the

money and so nice to have something reinforcing to listen to on my long commute

every day.

This group isn’t actually by the

author of the book I’m referring to. The group founder’s name is

Moran, she wrote “How to Survive Your Diet and Conquer

Your Food Issues Forever”;

the authors of “The Diet Survivor’s Handbook: 60 Lessons in Eating,

Acceptance and Self-Care” are Judith Matz and Ellen el. So they are

not really connected; I’m not basing any decisions on the defunct Yahoo

group.

May be just me, but I don't like her assertion that we

should see overeating as " greed " apparently she believes making us

feel greedy will keep us from eating too much. and eating mindlessly. I don't

need yet another reason to feel bad about eating. I got into it on the group,

then left.

The “Diet Survivors List” is

not by the same author. I just found a “very good” copy for $4

(including shipping) so I just ordered it (the book by Katz/el mentioned

in the subject line). We’ll see.

Thanks for clarifying that Kate. Its good to know that there is a difference. I

know I very briefly crossed paths with Moran (group owner) and didn't

'click' with her ideas or leadership. Of course that could have been all about

me too.

Do hope you, and others, will provide feedback on the book when you can.
