Guest guest
, I am not a leader. I do attend regularly though and have a group job. The leaders have to appeal to a lot of different types of women and try to get everyone talking and helping each other. At the end of the meeting if someone doesn't feel their question has been answered they will spend time with them. I would call the leader and ask if you can meet with her outside of a regular meeting. That way she might be able to spend some time with you personally. http://www.lalecheleague.org/Web/Louisiana.html Wendi http://www.lactivist.com breastfeeding info & resources Pain > > > Hi all. Guest guest
Rhonda, All meetings are different but at our meetings the leader does use some tools to get everyone talking. It is designed as mother to mother support so the leader's job is to get all the mom's talking and supporting one another. Guest guest
Our meetings are much different than that. We do use some opening tools to get people talking but for the most part everyone's issue is addressed as they are introducing themselves. That way the issues get talked about first and if there is still time we get to the topic of the meeting. You might want to say something to your leader about the format. Wendi http://www.lactivist.com breastfeeding info & resources Re: Pain There is a subject/topic that is discussed and games are played to engage the answers. For example the topic of the first meeting was " communication " and there was a sign on the board with two colums. You had to match one colum to the other. Further example of this is the word breastfeeding...which had to be matched to LLL. IE, who would you communicate with to find out about breastfeeding? I got most of them wrong...I think I said I would communicate with my Lactation Consultant (for help) and my husband (for support). It just seemed silly to me being that most of the people that are there are having some sort of problem that needs to be addressed. By the time the " communication " part is over and people get to ask questions it usually ends up being a 2 hour meeting. I am not saying they are bad...I just dont find the first hour useful at all...but the question and answer period is good. > << we all agree that the > end of the meetings are more useful than those silly " communication " > games that are played. Guest guest
Hello everyone, I guess by now tha most of you know I had a stent put in last Friday. And also that it flared up my pancreas. Well, I started to fell better, but today my pain went wild, I had enough pain meds to cover it, but if I have to double up again I won't have enough for long. Gonna call the doc tommorow. I thought this procedure was supposed to help. Rob
Guest guest
Oh, Dawn... My heart aches for you. The pain is so difficult, I know. I remember how bad it was years ago for me...it used to get so bad I would vomit just from the severity of the pain. I have trouble with prescription pain meds...they make me dizzy or sick, etc., but I rely on Advil throughout my day now. And rest...lots of rest. By three or four every afternoon, you'll find me lying on my recliner not wanting to move a muscle. I even to lots of cooking when the pain isn't so great just so I can package it and freeze it so I won't have to cook late in the afternoon. I've tried so many meds...Advil helps to a certain degree, but nothing has ever made me pain-free. I tried Aleve, too, and that helped take the edge off, but that's all. Annette -----Original Message-----From: Dawn Sent: Friday, November 08, 2002 8:57 AMTo: OurMyositis Subject: PainI'm just curious as to how you all manage your pain and/or if my painseems to be about the same as most of you experience or less/more. Sofar this morning, I've taken 150 mg. Codeine Contin, 100 mg. Neurontinand 1 Tylenol #3 and I'm still in pain. In the run of a day, I take 2Codeine Contins, 3 Neurontins and 3 Tylenol #3's. Now, I know this maybe hard to measure, due to the fact that I'm on blood thinners and can'ttake any anti-inflammatory pain meds. but I'm just curious.Thanks.Dawn
Guest guest
Thanks for your input, Annette. I'm so glad Advil and/or Aleve helps you, especially since you can't take prescription pain meds. It's a good think you're not on Coumadin because you wouldn't even be able to take them. The cooking tip is a good one. I should perhaps think of preparing my meals earlier in the day and just reheat it at supper time. Sounds good, but I doubt I'll be organized enough to do it. LOL. Guest guest
Yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe you could see about changing it ever 48 hours like I do. That works like a charm for me! I'm so glad it worked for you! I know exactly what you were going through. That moment when the patch starts to kick in and you realize the pain is missing..... it's just glorious! pain Well, my every 72 hour patch gave me about 64 hours as close to pain free as I've been in years. I'm changing it late this afternoon so I guess in the meantime I'll take my breakthrough med because when it came back it came back with a vengence. I'm very happy with it, though, because it has really helped. It will be interesting to see if the wooziness continues after the first week or not. I wasn't woozy this AM so I'm wondering if that was a sign that the med was wearing off. I'll tell you what though, despite the wooziness I've been able to do more in a day than I have for quite awhile. But I was good about pacing myself. Guest guest
And , I should say that the wooziness will not prevent me from using the patch even if it continues. I won't be able to drive at all, but I went without it for so long and even without the patch was only up to a couple of miles with no traffic anyway. Denny said he can see the difference in my face, which is really good--I don't need more wrinkles, LOL Kathy pain Well, my every 72 hour patch gave me about 64 hours as close to pain free as I've been in years.
