Guest guest
Alana I feel like a 2X4 instead of a willow stick when it comes to dancing. I can sense the rhythm and movement in my head but my body just can't 'translate' that into graceful actions. But if I cut free and just move - with no one there to see me! - I can enjoy the experience of moving to music. I marvel at you joining classes to further your enjoyment. That's not something I would at all feel comfortable to do. Hope you had a fun time with line dancing. At least there you don't have a partner to step on toes while learning. ehugs, Katcha IEing since March 2007 > > I tried a Hip-Hop dance class tonight. Felt very frustrated with my body and my coordination. Love Zumba classes! Just not good at trying to learn choreographed dance steps. Find myself feeling a yearning loss for youth and missing the days of aerobics dance classes from the 80's. At least I tried it. Wednesday I try a line dancing class. Hopefully wont feel so uncoordinated. > Alanac. >
Guest guest
The other end of the spectrum . . . is those movies/shows where you see some pretty 'heavy' people who are so light on their feet and graceful! A really lovely scene came to mind from the movie - Cousins! - where Ted Danson's character is a dance instructor who is having a difficult time getting his students to learn to do a dance step. Off to the side is sitting the class secretary - an older and heavier gal knitting while the class is going on. Ted walks over to her, takes her hand and off they go like ball room dancing finalists! Oh my could that lady glide and step! Jackie Gleason was like that too - looked like a hippo, but could dance like a swan. Here's to the swan in all of us :-) Katcha > > > > I tried a Hip-Hop dance class tonight. Felt very frustrated with my body and my coordination. Love Zumba classes! Guest guest
If anyone has a Sweat Your Prayers group in the area, that's dance at its very best. I only went a couple of times, but it was truly liberating. I felt like I was channeling the currents of the universe, and I am normally very self-.conscious about dancing (one of the joys of having a spouse who tells you that you can't dance). People of all sizes, shapes, ages, following their own inner rhythms to ver varied and interesting music. Tilley > > > > > > I tried a Hip-Hop dance class tonight.
