Guest guest
Tiarnna- Welcome to the list! My name is and I'm a SAHM to 3 kids. 7, 5, and Katelyn 23 months. I am currently still nursing our 23 month old. Congratulations on your choice to breastfeed, I wish you all the best in this most wonderful relationship! As far as LLL goes, I think you would have to contact the organization to find out exactly what you need to do to get a group started. I know a leader has to have nursed at least one child for a year or more. But, I have really enjoyed the meetings and I hope that things work out so you can get one closer to you. Looking forward to hearing from you- S.

Guest guest
Tiarnna, Welcome to the list. Glad to have you. I am involved with LLL and love it. I find that it offers so much support and a great source of accurate information. You will have to have breastfed for at least 9 months and gone to the series of 4 meetings to start the leadership process. Keep working on it though, your community would be grateful. Wendi http://www.lactivist.com breastfeeding info & resources Intro From: TB1234@... Hi there! My name is Tiarnna, and I have recently started subscribing to several lists on One-List, and have been reading this one for a few days now. I am 22 yrs old, and currently BFing my just-over-5 month old Kainen. BD 10-18-99 We just fed him rice cereal for the first time tonight. He loved it. I was hoping he wouldn't cause I don't want to start, but he is getting older, and I realize that he will be getting the majority of his nutrition from me for months to come. I am in Eastern WA, and seriously thinking of campaining to get LLL here. The nearest one is in Spokane, a 2 hour drive away. An LC here said that should would be willing to help anyone that wanted to start, but she couldn't take on the responsibilty herself. But from what I have seen on the LLL site, I myself, nursing for 5 months, and never been to an LLL meeting, can't start one. Are any of you part of the LLL? Anyone who doesn't like it? Well, I am excited to speak and learn with you all! Tiarnna ------------------------------------------------------------------------ DON'T HATE YOUR RATE! Get a NextCard Visa, in 30 seconds! Guest guest
Welcome and Annemarie! I am Michele in Edmonton Alberta. Annemarie I also didn't bf my first, we tried but he wouldn't latch and I didn't have any knowledgeable help, so he was on formula by the time we left the hospital. I am happy to say that bfing went great with our dd though, she is 28 months and still nursing and I'm also nursing our one month old ds. I got lots of info while pregnant with dd and I delivered her in a hospital that was very supportive of bfing. I'm sure you will do fine! I was born and raised in Freehold, NJ. Lived there until May, 1988. I am currently expecting our 2nd child August 14(if I make it that long). I am a working mother, but am currently out on disability until after the baby is born due to a placenta abruption diagnosed on February 17. I was on bed rest until just last Monday. I am no stranger to pregnancy problems. I had 2 mc before and then had to deal with secondary infertility while TCC this currently pregnancy, now the abruption. Sad to say that the BF relationship did not work out for and me. Only was able to BF for the first week then things went real bad. We were off to a bad start, she was born with pneumonia and was on oxygen for the first 3 days of her life. I was unable to BF until she was taken off oxygen. Well with that all behind me, I am 2000% committed to make this thing work this time. Since I know how to do things wrong, I am looking to learn how to do things right. Obviously I will not be able to contribute much in the beginning, but I am looking forward to learning a lot. Annemarie

I weaned Kaija at 13 months for many of the same reasons that you did. Mainly because she wanted to nurse all the time and I didn't feel comfortable nursing in public.
