Guest guest
Yeah! I'd sure call that progress! I'm finding myself less and less inclined to eat when stressed. Now that I'm paying a little more attention, I'm aware of getting stomach aches if I eat when I'm stressed, or rushed, or anything really that's keeping me from relaxing. Any chance of doing anything about your boss? Like switching departments or something? That sounds intolerable. Tilley > > Here's one for you - my job is really stressful. I have a lot of work to do and yet most of my time is spent assuaging my micro-managing boss who's always reacting to something. We have a situation at work that has him totally spun and he's in and out of my office all day (not that he isn't most days anyway). > > At one point, I was groping around frantically for some chocolate (having been struggling to NOT make it forbidden and yet not wanting to eat it). > > I finally found some and was gnawing off a chunk when I suddenly realized, " I'm stressed! My focus would have been totally in shame and blame and now I feel very different about the incident. And, hopeful that I can make change in my life. > > Becoming conscious in the moment is such a hard thing to do - it's so bizarre and yet probably so very normal, given the givens. > > So - maybe next time I'll realize I'm stressed earlier - nah - I'll just stop there and let this be my success story. It is a first for me. I was stressed - and I realized it even though I had a mouth full of a stale LOOK candybar. > > End of story. > > Sandarah >
Guest guest
I'm thinking about it... A co-worker and I spent quite a bit of time talking about what a difficult boss he is. He does have his good points and he is generous with time off. But, as I pay more and more attention to what I'm feeling and how I'm doing in the moment, the situation probably won't seem as abstract as it does to me right now. I realize that most of my life has been an abstraction to me because I've lived in my head rather than my body all these years. So issues that seem so complex probably aren't as complex when one is attending to their needs and not their interpretations of events. I have a bit to travel on that road - and look forward to getting more immediate with myself. Boy, this is sure a bumpy road though - with lots of unexpected twists and turns. Who knew? > > > > Here's one for you - my job is really stressful. I have a lot of work to do and yet most of my time is spent assuaging my micro-managing boss who's always reacting to something. Guest guest
Yippee Sandarah! Its wonderful how once you NOTICE, its hard to not be aware after that. Not that there won't be times when you chose to ignore that, but now that the connection has made, its hard to break and bury away. For sure a tough old Look bar would be a great teeth gnawer for grinding stress with ;-) Did it taste like sugar filled cardboard or did you even notice flavor of any kind? Good for you to look your stress right in the eyes. Ah sweet PROGRESS!!!!! Ehugs, Katcha IEing since March 2007 > > Here's one for you - my job is really stressful.
