Hi all,

I just took my son to the pediatrician because he has been showing extreme

symptoms of pandas. He has been having extreme ocd, night terrors, seperation

anxiety, he hasn't gone to school for a month because he has violent outbursts

every time we try to take him out of the house, ect. I know with autism we are

accustomed to behavior issues, ocd, ect but this is way above and beyond his

normal personality. She basically indicated that I'm a terrible mother for even

trying to see if he has pandas. According to her pandas is something that NT

children get not kids with autism. She said he would have to have swollen

tonsils to even qualify. And all he needs is psychiatric meds. That we should

call 911 to get emergency psychiatry help during the next melt down and they

will probably put him in a mental hospital for a week but we have to go through

the bad in order to get him the help he needs??? Wth???? Are these doctors for

real? Why can't they just research a little so they could at least be accurate

with their info while they try to belittle us. I've done the hours of reasearch,

spoken to the people at the pandas network, spoken to the pandas researchers at

Yale university and spoken to the clinical director of pediatric immunology @

Stanford and that Dr. Wants to see my son because he thinks that he has pandas

and can help us, not to mention this site with the most valuable knowledge from

moms that have been through it. Has she done any research on the subject to

where she could tell me to dismiss the idea? I just don't understand why

parents' haves to go through so much crap just to try to do right by our kids.

Sorry to vent so much just can't believe that the docs we r supposed to trust

are still so completely in the dark still :-( thanks for letting me vent I know

u all understand my frustration.
