Arpita,Namenda balances GABA and glutamate. I don't think it qualifies as an MAOI. But please ask the doc. If you haven't called yet and it's out of hours, just call his answering service. That's why they have them :-)

PS How is your son doing on Namenda?

DS(alomst 6 years old) is down with a flu. Has very high fever and a horrible sore throat. I was wondering whether I could give him some theraflu but the label said it is not safe to give it with a Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor (MAOI). He gets Namenda and Lamictal and I don't know whether they contain MAOI. Can anyone tell me which OTC flu medications and cough syrups are ok to administer along with Namenda and Lamictal?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Arpita.
