Welcome! Its wonderful to hear about a success with not dieting. I'm sure that

when you re-immerse yourself with the principles of IE, Thintuition or whatever

form of non-dieting that suits you, you will get back on track for yourself too.

From what I've read if one applies these suggestions in a 'rule' way (hard and

fast limits - no fooling around allowed), this can result in a pseudo diet

reaction which could end as re-gain as soon as the 'rules' are let go. Could

that be what happened for you?

Best wishes for you as you resume your IE journey!

my favorite books is " The Overfed Head " by Rob s. Six years ago I was very

successful with intuitive eating and the tips outlined in this book. I had lost

25-30 pounds and was back to a size 6! I felt great, and was able to keep the

weight off for about a year, and I NEVER felt deprived. But some how, I started

gaining the weight back. And I very quickly lost touch with my " thintuition " as

Rob s calls the ability to know when you are physically hungry vs. having

the desire to eat for other reasons.

realized I didn't enjoy any of what I ate and then I eat more. This is

especially true of desserts!!

It very well could be! I keep thinking back trying to figure out if there was

anything significant that happened in my life that could have distracted me from

physical hunger, and drove me to eat more emotionally. Paying more attention to

why I want to eat when I'm not hungry, I've noticed I tend to eat when I'm tired

or anxious. I need to conquer these feelings with something other than food!

I just posted about that book before I read this. Wow!!!! I have lost 45 and

not regained it but I would like to lose about 25 more. I've tried dieting

again but can't do it ever since I read that book. So I just reread it and that

is the ONLY way I have ever lost weight and kept it off and I am 62.

i just wanted to add that i see whenever (not very often) i manage to take a little impromptu snooze, I wake up feeling starving, even if i ate a little while before. now I learned a rule for myself- no running to the kitchen after naps... i just started journalling-- every time i finish a meal i write (anthropologist-voice) what i ate, if i enjoyed, and how i feel after. makes me really in touch with... me! i agree with katcha that it sounds like you did pdeudo dieting-- omg i didnt eat wile sitting down, now ive blown it, may as well binge...
