Miriam, I hate to even start with you because you don't seem to like what I say but I can see you're  struggling and it bugs me that I have an answer for you.  So, you'll have to just like it. LOLYou can't tolerate the T3 because of your horrid ferritin.  Put up a sign above your computer that says, no more T3 until ferritin it up.  It's NOT NOT NOT that you're not enough HC.  IT'S FERRITIN.

I'm on cytomel only and since I increased to 40 mcg. I'm uncomfortable. My heart seems to feel racey, so I just checked my pulse and it's 80. A typical pulse for me has been in the 60's. I have not done any exercise or eaten so I don't get the 80n pulse.

This is what life was like when I was overdosed on levoxyl/synthroid.

I know my ferritin is low and that may be the reason I am feeling hypo on 40 mcg. cytomel.  But could it be I need more cortef in order to tolerate my icrease in cytomel?

Now I'm not sure this belongs here or in adrenals. If not for my RT3 issue I would not be here at all, I'd be on NDT probably.

lol..it's not that i don't like what you're saying, it's just that I'm taking 8 of the bluebonnet and solgar irons a day with vitamin c yet none of this is reflected in my labs. I still continue to take it every day, nevertheless. It is possible I have an absorption issue, but i don't know. The only reason i would have an absorption issue is because of sluggish thyroid (i have no thyroid due to removal?) or not sufficient thyroid hormones so that slows down everything including absorption. (I am gluten free and dairy free so I believe my absorption is ok on that end)

the only other thing I can think might make a difference is perhaps betaine. it may be worth a try. Maybe I'll check out the pharmacy soon.

yes i'm struggling and my heart goes out to all the others here who are struggling. How the mods have patience for us, is a miracle!

I was certain my ferritin was up to 80, based on the amounts I'm taking. Yesterday my doc faxed me in my labwork and I saw Ferritin:m 15 and I nearly flipped over! But I had been increasing my cyomel based on my assumption that here I am taking ferritin every day, at least 8 pcs. and yes on empty stomach and figured it's safe to increase t3.

Today i'm decreasing by 5 mcg. or 10. Is it safe to decrease by 10 at a time? I just can't stand the raciness of my heart and the shakiness of my whole body; it feels like adrenaline.

So I'll stay low on the t3, and still don't get it how he thinks adding t4 is gonna help at all..never mind, he's history, on to the next doc.

Where do you get cytomel online? Is it same strength as 'cytomel' ?

Thanks a lot!

How long have you been taking the bluebonnet? I'd be taking 250 of elemental a day. Do you take it on an empty stomach. Yes, being very hypo, which you are, makes absorption a nightmare. It's a seesaw. On the ferritin/iron front, I have a theory that maybe the iron pills go to "iron" first and then to ferritin and sometimes it takes a while for ferritin to raise.I want to stress again with a ferritin that low you simply can NOT NOT NOT increase T3. PLEASE take my word for it.

Actually a pulse of 80 is pretty normal! 60 is WAY low iunless oyu are

very athletic. But I suspect the shakiness is oyur low ferritin and

pushign the T3 up too fast fo rti to handle it.

If your ferritin will not go up, would your doc consider an iron IV(venofer)?,

that works.

I hope this isn't considered hijacking, but I think it's related. I just had 5

rounds of venofer (have to wait to test for level at least a week so no new

number right now) and my heart is recently racing too. It is driving me crazy.

And scaring me. The only relief I had so far is from acupuncture (which worked

great). My T3 was raised for only one day but I backed down because the racing

got worse. I did switch from Isocort to Cortef though because of the infection.

One other factor, (and I hope someone has some experience with this) is that I'm

on a really strong antibiotic for a sinus infection, Augmentin XR. I'm 7 days

into the AB's so it's not the infection using up cortisol which is what I first

thought.

Do antibiotics use up cortisol or T3? I do have a lot more energy and would

probably feel great if I didn't feel like I could have a heart attack at any

moment and a lot of anxiety.

I suspect the antibiotics are somehow using T3 or cortisol because my basal has

dropped over a degree since I've been on them. But I tried raising T3 and that

only made my heart race more. So did raising HC. I am stumped and frustrated

because I could be feeling great right now I suspect.

Maybe it's just the damn AB's. These Augmentins usually keep me EXHAUSTED and

they are not doing it this time. Instead they're affecting my thyroid and

adrenals.

Anybody have any ideas, suggestions or experience with AB's while on T3/Cortef?

This heart racing is really upsetting me and making me very nervous.

Thanks,

Donna

The antibiotics do nto use cortiosl or T3 but the infeciton will lower

your cortils drastically even WITH Antibiotics. AB's still need oyur

immune systrem to fight the infection they do nto do it alone. Whne ill

we can need many timesd more cortios than we nee when we are not sick. I

would t4y a stress dose and see if that helps.
