I have had an encounter with someone on another list talking about

obesity/overweight. It has flattened me, threatening to send me back to diets.

am summarizing it below.

I am becoming extremely offended by these posts. I am battling a weight problem.

I spent most of yesterday near tears about it. I *do* not need people here

vomiting and barfing about obese people. I am really struggling here, and maybe

to you or anyone else writing these posts it may seem like I'm not if you see me

out eating too much you have not spent a day in my shoes. that was my response

to her saying *vomit* and *barf* to obese people eating large quanities of food

in public, sigh.

Sometimes people are very insensitive, uneducated or uninformed, or may be projecting their own inner feelings/judgements about themselves.  I am sorry you had to run into this and hope that in some way you will be able to use it to strengthen your own self esteem. It's not you it's them. I have never heard of anyone on this list posting that way and all the posts are monitored before being sent out.  Hope this helps.  I care.  Sandy

I'm so sorry. People are cruel and mean because it makes them feel better about themselves. It speaks to their character, not to anything about you. Don't let these jerks put you back into a miserable situation. You are worth taking care of.
