It's been a long time since I read IE and I've since given my copy of the book

away to a friend, but I do have a list of all the principles.

If I'm remembering correctly, one of the first things the book mentioned is

getting rid of all the things that keep you in the " dieting " mindset. Or maybe

I'm getting this confused with " Thin Within " , as I've read both books.

I used the principles of IE and TW for a long time and did see some weight loss,

but continued to weigh myself almost daily. The scales are one of the things I

have a hard time ridding myself of, but I really want to. My husband and son use

the scales often, so getting rid of them completely is out, but moving them into

another room is a good option for me. I do want to get out of the habit of

weighing myself daily, but maybe after hiding the scales I'll weigh myself

monthly or every three months or hopefully and eventually, not at all.

Anyway, after a while of doing IE, I got to the point that I found myself

grazing throughout most days, therefore the weight loss came to a standstill, so

I started counting calories. I did have some success with calorie counting, but

went back to binging (bingeing?) like crazy and through this whole month of

December I've found myself completely out of control and having terrible binge

eating, to the point of making myself miserably full. This is why I decided to

go back to IE. I feel so free from the calorie counting and hope to never go

back, but I'm going to keep a check on myself that I don't go back to snacking

throughout each day on IE.

I'm journaling my foods and what times I eat because I don't yet trust my body's

hunger signals (feeling truly hungry at times I know I can't possibly be). I'm

only keeping track so that I make sure I don't eat before a three hour minimum

between small meals.

I'm getting rid of other charts I've been using, such as tracking my " good " days

on a calendar each month. Looking at all the " bad " days for December was really

bringing me down, so I destroyed that this morning and won't go back to that.

I'm sorry this is too long, but wanted to give a little intro on my thoughts on

how I plan to handle IE for now; subject to change at the drop of a hat! lol

I'd love to hear suggestions any of you may have if you had a habit of weighing

often or charting almost any and everything. How did you handle getting

yourselves out of the " dieting mindset " ?

Thanks for letting me ramble!
