Guest guest
I should stand corrected. Maybe the JRI clinic has had alot of experience in resurfacing. If someovne has had resurfacing there please post. It does appear that some doctors in Europe have been doing it longer.
Guest guest
The JRI has done alot of surgeries, however they are already behind the times. They use old techniques with below average results.(When it comes to patient care, tools, anestesia, staples-yuk!, etc) The surgery itself is wonderful, however the JRI is NOT the place to go. You WILL find NO help in your endeavors. If you manage to actually get the surgery from them...and have it covered....good luck, you will need it. The hip resurf doc in Chicago area needed a hip resurf for himself...so he went to see Dr Gross in SC to have his done....Does that tell you something? Dr Gross is a perfectionist with hundreds of surgeries behind him. (I think he should pay me for this. Ha!) Good luck to you. Q > I should stand corrected. Guest guest
I believe that it is inappropriate for anyone who has not actually had surgery performed at a given site to comment pro or con regarding that surgeon or facility. This is not the place for comments that are more commonly applied to baseball or football teams. in NC > > I should stand corrected. Guest guest
Dr. Amstutz at the JRI has been working on resurfacing for MANY years. The JRI started the Conserve Plus trials. They offered the prothesis on a custom basis before it went to trial. I would venture to say that anyone with a Conserve + resurfacing owes it to the efforts of Dr. Amstutz and the JRI. I certainly wouldn't have found out about it if it hadn't been for them and the assistance of Chuck , who was extremly helpful to me when I was researching and fighting my insurance company for approval. To say that no one will find help there is just wrong. Candace C+ 12/02 Vail > > I should stand corrected. Maybe the JRI clinic has had alot of > experience in > > resurfacing. Guest guest
JRI has joined with UCLA to continue the C+ study. All surgeries now take place at UCLA Santa Hospital. This is a good thing. UCLA is an excellent hospital and provides great care. I have had a PAO at Los Angeles Orthopedic Hospital where JRI used to do their surgeries. I had a very unpleasant hospital experience but the surgery itself turned out wonderful. On 2/25/03 I had a C+ in my other hip. I have had only support from my Dr. Everyone else told me to suffer until I was immobile and then get a THR. They offered me hope when no hope was available. I had no insurance problems. Everyone was nice and helpful. I don't understand how it can be said they are behind the times. The study itself is very specific. The device is the same no matter who puts it in. Experience of the surgeon is the limiting factor and these Dr.'s have lots of experience. Re: Tennis Dr. Amstutz at the JRI has been working on resurfacing for MANY years. Guest guest
Thanks for the advice, Dad. After my nightmare experience with the JRI, i feel it is my duty, especially with this source, to let future patients know. I am certainly NOT alone. I've spoken, in depth with others. Try Pallegrini...she'd love to put out the warnings. Q > > > I should stand corrected. Maybe the JRI clinic has had alot of > > experience in > > > resurfacing. Guest guest
well, people in LA started it all here in US, but it seems that some people (surfers) had not so good experience...if you don't mind travel those listed are good options; I am scheduled w/ Gross May 12th and the more I read this chats the more I am convinced that he is the right one (grad of J. Hopkins, too); send him your x-rays and call him; I really do not think that you should go all the way to Europe for this Miren PS what was your highest atp ranking Re: Re: Tennis Miren, I went to the JRI clinic In LA , However I would prefer if I get it done to go to the Docs with the most experience. It looks like McMinn, Tracey AND DeSmet . Also it seems like Gross has had some good sucess. Thanks,
