I don't have time right now to explain this whole convoluted problem I'm having, but here's the quick story...

I signed up for Humana PPO that doesn't have drug coverage

Then I signed up for United Health Rx for my drug coverage

I got a letter from United Health Rx saying I had "dis-enrolled"

I called United Health Rx and was told Medicare "dis-enrolled" me

After numerous calls I finally got someone at Medicare saying I'm not allowed to have stand alone drug coverage when I have a PPO.

I called Humana to add a separate drug coverage policy. They have several. But Humana says I am not allowed to have a separate policy with them. I said "but it's your own policy!" Doesn't matter, she said.

I called Medicare back and was told I cannot change my PPO to another plan with drug coverage until the new change period which will be November 15.

AND, I will be charged a minimum of $10 per month penalty for not having drug coverage.Ahhh... yes the idea of government healthcare should scare the heck out of everyone. I get to pay a penalty every month for not having the coverage they dis-enrolled me from. ROFLMHO

Sharon, I'm sorry that you are having to go through this. The problem here isn't so much that it's government, which Medicare is. But, it seems that there are just too many options and it's hard to know which option is best in any particular situation. I have Medicare, Medicaid, and I think Silver Script to cover prescriptions. I do support Single Payer. I would encourage all to read through the list of Frequently Asked Questions here: http://pnhp.org/facts/single-payer-faq When trying to satisfy the Insurance and Pharmaceutical lobbyists, our government has more or less said that Americans are not important. In some cases it's not possible to be Bi-Partisan. I don't want to start a political debate and I know that this can easily become one. People, by nature, are creatures

of habit and are resistant to change. But, if change hadn't taken place, we would be part of the British Commonwealth. I am 59 years old. Over the years, I've seen a lot of changes, some good, some not so good. My parents were middle class, perhaps even upper middle class. My dad worked, my mom stayed home and took care of my brother, sister, and I. She also did volunteer work and took care of the home. The home was a small 3 bedroom ranch style. My parents built the garage themselves, there was a chain link fence around the yard. The made mortgage payments and never missed a payment. Even in my best years when I was working full time, I never could afford to buy a house. Even when married, my husband and I together couldn't buy a house. Whatever happened to the American Dream? Next month, my artwork will be on display at the library. It

will be there for the month of February. I'm kind of excited about getting my paintings out where the general public can see them. I don't know what if anything will come of this opportunity. But, it's still exciting and kind of ironic in a way. Have a good weekend everybody.Donna in WA
