Unfortunately you will find that services of any kind are VERY limited in Florida. We actually moved out of Florida because of the lack of services and poor school environment. It is amazing the things my son has accomplished in our new school and state in one year.

Hello there. I am a speech therapist that relocated from Ny. I have experience with the cpse system in Ny and now work as a speech therapist in Florida with children with Autism. In terms of Pre-k programs many of the children that I have worked with went to Baudhin in Davie and other children were in what is called Place programs which are pre-k programs through the school district. I do not know much about Bayview elementary but wouldnt hurt to call them and ask if they have a pre-k program,etc. I worked with preschoolers for many years in Ny and when I moved to South Florida I found less options but they do exist. In terms of school age many of the elementary schools have clusters for children with Autism. Some children are able to be in regular classrooms with supports. I currently work in a cluster

program - some children are mainstreamed for parts of the day, other children spend the majority of time in the cluster program ( a smaller program with less students and geared to kids with Autism) I will be honest in saying that in Broward county schools have been hit hard with cuts,etc but good services and therapists do exist!- just gotta be an advocate and do your research. In terms of Ieps most of the children that I work with receive speech therapy several times per week- the most tx for the children that I work with is 5x/week for 30 min/day. In terms of private schools I dont have much info but will let you know if I hear of anything. Please feel free to contact me if there is anything else that I can help you with.
