Guest guest
Okay folks, here's a question for you: if IE is all about listening to your body in regards to eating, what about water? All the " experts " say that we don't drink enough water, that most Americans are running around dehydrated, and we should drink X number of glasses of water per day. I know so many people who carry around enormous containers of water and force themselves to drink drink drink. (And then they're up all night peeing). Shouldn't IE principles apply to water too? Shouldn't I trust myself to drink when I am thirsty? Did I ever as a child think that I needed to drink more water than I did? Yesterday I left my big mug of water in a classroom where someone else was teaching, and thus didn't have it with me all day. I got up and got a drink at the drinking fountain when I was thirsty, and felt fine. And I didn't have to get up in the middle of the night to pee. And that got me started thinking about it, and it seems strange to say to trust your body when it comes to food and exercise, but not water. And now, having written this, I realize that I'm thirsty now, so I'm going to get up and walk down the hall to the drinking fountain, and I kind of wish I had my big mug here, because I do like water a lot. When I get migraines I get wickedly thirsty, and do drink and drink and drink, but it's my body telling me that, not my head. So?
