Funny, I was getting a post ready for Summer camp for my son in Boca Raton area. Same age/diagnosis. He would probably be able to go in a "regular" camp, just looking for something with swimming and affordable. Thanks! He will be living near Nova University this summer. I would also like recommendations for a highly-qualified nutritionist experienced with autism. My grandson has a very limited diet due to sensory issues and we want to work with a nutritionist who can expand his diet. Thanks.

You really need someone who is familiar with feeding therapy.

Usually this is in the field of occupational therapy. Another approach would be

a behavioral approach. Try to find the book " Just one more bite " it

may give you ideas on how to approach the issue.

The JCC in Boca has a special needs camp and so does the JCC in

Boynton. Affordable is a different issue altogether. The city of Boca has an

affordable day camp….

hi,

my son is almost 4 with high functioning autism. we are having very similiar feeding issues. i took him to see a nutritionist but didn't really find it to be the most helpful. she basically gave me a list of what he should be eating. we started feeding therapy with a speech pathologist last week. we will also be seeing a gastro dr. i definitely agree with Shirly...i recently read "just take a bite" and it really shed light on the situation. if you have any questions or want to discuss further, feel free to contact me off list.

thx,

My son has attended the JCC Posnack summer Camp in Davie the past 2 years

and we all LOVE IT. It is expensive and they might now have a spot available at

this point. Registration was the first week of Jan. But they do have a waiting

list so you might want to try to contact them. Ida
