Guest guest
hi christy, i know i am measuring big too and we are due almost at the same time, sometimes the cause for that can be the way the doctor measures, from the pubic bone up to the fundus, i have a large panni which probably causes a distortion.. if he thought there was something wrong with the baby being abnormally larger he probably would have made a bigger deal especially with the refusal of the glucose test as women who have gestational diabetes, usually have bigger babies.. so i wouldnt worry about anything until you have seen the doctor again, if it should be a concern maybe then can order an u/s. lisa post op lap rny 12-5-1/dr ikramuddin/univ of mn wt day of sx/233 lowest 7-18-2 148 wt today 1-2-3 161 zachary aaron 10-16-92/zoe arielle is due 3-18-
Guest guest
Christy, I too am measuring large. From the day I began to get measurements taken I was measuring 2 weeks larger than expected but all ultrasounds have shown a normal to large baby but not TOO large. At 32 weeks I jumped up to a 4 week larger than expected measurement and have been that way ever since...I will have a C-S next Friday at 39 weeks 3 days. I have not had an ultrasound since 28 weeks but my OB doesn't feel he is TOO big but does make comments about him being a big baby. This happened with my first son as well. Early on the DR's were telling me he was going to be over 10 pounds but when I had a ultrasound at 38 weeks with him he was only 7 1/2 pounds. He was born at 40 weeks and a day and weighed 9 lbs 1/2 oz (emergency C-S). So, obviously the measurements don't always indicate a problem OR a huge baby. I do not have gestational diabetes with this one or my first one either. I guess I just carry big. Hope this helps you out. Good luck! Debbie Measuring Big?? I am not sure if anyone else has had this happen but I have another DR appointment today and will be getting a recheck. I went in at 27 week check up to see DR. He did his normal chit chat and we discussed the fasting blood test I had previously done that turned out to be perfectly normal though he gave me a bit of a hard time about declining the glucose toler? test and opting for a fasting blood test. Anyway here is my current worry....At week 27 check-up I was measured to be at 32 weeks??? I had just arrived at DR office after a four hour drive from being out of town, was tired and trying to remember all of my questions for him, so I never got around to addressing the miss measurement. I did get concerned on my way home and called back to end up speaking with a nurse as he had already left for the day. She said I was probably just measured wrong and to keep my appointment in 2 weeks. No mind you at this point I had only gained a total of 7lbs and non between my 25th and 27th week check-ups. I go every two weeks to see DR because of RNY. Anyway I don't mean to babble on but I was hoping someone out there might be able to shed some light on the subject....Any takers as to why I might be measureing so much bigger?? Thanks for reading..
