Guest guest
Hey Barb, Personally, I'm happy to hear Ken's surgeon say " soon " . Granted, how does one put that into context. " Soon " to me is within 4 weeks. Soon to him may mean 6 months or 1 year. Its normal to be apprehensive. My parents were very much against me getting a tx so soon. They wanted me to get a second opinion, etc. They didn't fully understand the disease, or didn't want too, but they were certain I should wait. I wanted to get it over with so that I could get on with my life. Aside from complications of tx, I figured I really only had to worry about two things - rejection and recurrence. I felt like I knew my odds. Continuing to live with the disease had too many scenarios - neither of which I liked. I wanted to take my chances. Not to mention, having the tx earlier allowed me to recoup that much faster. Glad to hear the eval went well, aside from the Hep meeting, and hope the actual news of Ken being listed is a mere formality. Darin
Guest guest
Thanks to UNOS, I found out that as of June 9, Baylor has 6 people with AB blood listed. 4 are listed “inactive”, 1 has a MELD score lower then Ken’s, 1 has a MELD score higher then Ken’s. So *IF* Ken is listed and *IF* everything stays the same, Ken will be #2 on the AB list…..Now that’s scary! This is something that is very exciting, but also very very scary. You have been such a support for all of us that have been through the transplant scenerio and we will be here for you. Ken is very fortunate to have such a great and knowledgeable caregiver by his side. My prayers are with you all. Together in the fight, Whatever it takes!!! Sending you lots of hugs, Joanne (mom of Todd, 20, psc 01, crohns 02, tx twice 03, recurrent psc 05 and living life to the fullest 06) " Barb a nervous wreck in Texas "

Guest guest
Barb, If it makes you feel any better, please remember that all of us PSCers are thinking about you and praying for Ken. You constantly are a wonderful source of help for all of us, so now it's our turn to back you up. Here's hoping that Ken will be listed soon, get the call, and travel the transplant road as smoothly as possible. How lucky he is to have you as his mom!!!!
