See Attached Booklet or go to www.fndfl.org/hearthope Keynote Speaker Dr. C. McIntire- Dr. McIntire has devoted 37 years to special and alternative education. He has Masters of Education (M.Ed) degrees from both Boston College and Columbia University and received his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) from The University of Michigan in Education Policy and Administration. He interned on an education subcommittee of the United States Congress addressing education policy for children with disabilities. Dr. McIntire has been as an Administrator of Special and Alternative Education for over 27 years in rural and urban school districts including Pinellas County and his present position as an ESE Director with the Orange County Public Schools. Dr. McIntire has been the President of multiple national and international organizations concerned with the education of children with disabilities and served as President of the International Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE) from 1998 to 2000. He continues his national policy work serving on the international CASE Legislation and Policy Committee. He presently serves as Adjunct Faculty at the University of Central Florida teaching in the areas of inclusion, autism and advocacy for teachers. Dr. McIntire is recognized here in Florida and in many other parts of the country as a champion for children with autism and other disabilities and their families. Throughout his career his professional interests have been in the areas of inclusionary practice; advocacy; systems change; parent/school collaboration; and program development and evaluation; with a focus on the blending of special education into regular education to ultimately create a unified and comprehensive education system for ALL children. Dr. McIntire has provided consultation to multiple professional and parent organizations, universities, as well as local and state education agencies across the Country. Four months ago he was a recipient of the Florida Council for Exceptional Children’s 2009 Prestigious Landis M. Stetler Award to honor his outstanding contributions to the education of children and youth with exceptionalities in Florida .
