Thank you for putting everything I feel into words.I didn't erase the poem in

case some one is having trouble finding the original thread I want them to be

able to read the poem in its entirety. It is quite poweful. Thank you for

putting what I feel into words.

I have just joined. As a daughter of a Bp mother, so much of your poem is too

familiar. I am struggling to build the walls/bounderies and feeling guilty for

doing so. But it helps to read posts written by others who I feel have lived the

same life I have.

Thank you

I escaped into sports and academics when at school but I was not a reader at

home. I was never encouraged to read despite my Dad being an avid reader. I had

other escapes at home though with crafts/sewing.

My oldest brother was the all black child though growing up and into adulthood

until his suicide when he couldn't take it anymore (that's my interpretation).

Then I seemed like the next weekest prey I guess so now I am the all black

child.

I always felt very resilient and just sort of carried on with life until I

became the all black child. Since then, I have been consumed by the fear of what

nada will do next that I can't even relax when she is behaving. She took her

fear and smear campaigns to a whole other level that I could have never imagined

prior to being the all black child.

Anyway, I think there is some genetic resilience involved but I also think

nada's target one child over another also and that may have just as much affect

on their outcome. Interesting question though.
