Guest guest
Cheryl- I'm so sorry to hear that. However, if is ready to put up a fight, you need to go in with both guns smoking. I can fully understand your being extremely let down and disappointed, not to mention down right angry...but, as tough as it may be, turn that energy around to work in your favor. Go see on Friday, and together the 2 of you can give 'em hell! I know this is all easy for me to say, but please don't get discouraged to the point that you give up on it. Maybe if you study up on other's experiences that have been denied, and what they did, it can give you some ideas for when you meet with . The Obesity Help website has a lot of information on this. http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/m-instrouble.phtml We're all here for you, so keep in touch and let us know how you are. Hang in there! Jeff Severely Depressed :*( Well today I was officially denied. No words can explain how I feel. I can't stop crying and I just don't want to believe it. @ Dr. Thayer's said the letter sounded like they did not understand obesity and it seemed more like a delay tactic. She wants me to call her Friday so we can devise a plan. I can't help but feel like it is hopeless. So until then I sit here depressed. Sorry for the unhappy email guys but I know I can talk to you about this cuz you understand how important this surgery is for us. Thanx for listening Cheryl L. Guest guest
Cheryl, It is most likely a delay tactic. In the 10 months I have been on-line with this group I have never heard of anyone being denied (well in the end anyway). Dr. Thayer's office will work with you, and your insurance company to get you your approval. Hugs, Joni - Dr. Thayer 11/27/
Guest guest
Cheryl, It is sooo hard to be denied, rejected refused for this surgery. i know cause after 9 months of being processed inspected detected I was denied for surgery...but it lead to being accepted at another hospital, with a differant Dr. and procedure. 8 months later I had a sucessful surgery that was right for meand less invasive with a quicker healing time. But when I was denied it was the pits. It was hard for me to turn my attitude around and go for the gold but I did use the rejection time to design a pre-op plan that allowed me to prepare and condition my body for a positive experience too, so take a deep breath and use your allies. Guest guest
Good luck in your battle. From what I understand, a lot of insurance companies just need that extra little push in order to approve the surgery. I think a lot of people who are having difficulties send in research showing how the surgery works and what the results are. There are a few articles which may help you at http://www.obesitylaw.com/articles.htm S Severely Depressed :*( Well today I was officially denied. No words can explain how I feel. Guest guest
Cheryl: I to was denied by the insurance company, the two days before my surgery was scheduled. I had been working with the insurance company for months, my surgery was for Thursday and on Tuesday at 4:30 they denied me. Not a lot of time to fight that let me tell you. at Dr. Thayers is absolutely wonderful, fantastic, strong, supportive, anything else you can think of that is positive. She will get right in and help you fight the battle against the insurance company. You didn't mention what carrier you have, I had Cigna who is absolutely terrible. Hang in there, you can AND SHOULD fight it. Don't let them win! Feel free to email me anytime regarding this battle. I am more a lurker than a " talker " but I am almost 4 months post-op and willing to help in anyway. 3/1/01 Dr. Thayer

Guest guest
Cheryl Just getting around to reading my mail and saw your distressing news. However, don't give up. If anyone can persuade the insurance company to approve you, it's Dr. Thayer's team. They have had wonderful success getting other denials turned around and should be able to help you. Hopefully, since I am so far behind in my mail, by the time you read this, you will have already been approved. Good luck and keep us posted.
