Hi, gang:

I was apparently approved for SSDI. I haven't yet received any notice from social security in the mail but I did receive a deposit to my checking account this morning in the amount of $24,750 from US Treasury Soc Sec.

The news is both a relief and scary, of course. Being declared disabled by the federal government will help me qualify for some assistance programs, including Medicare. On the other hand, as a single person relying on only SSDI for income, I'll have no choice but to move into cheaper housing and eventually move back home with family. Currently one can't even get onto a waiting list for section 8 housing in California.
