Guest guest
Hi Jill, Believe it or not, some of us have NEVER done a 24 hour urine. For many purposes, measuring the protein and creatinine in a single one shot specimen and calculating the ratio between the two provides a reasonable measure of proteinuria (my son does this every month). Good luck with your neph visit! Let us know how it goes. Cy I see Neph tomorrow, wish me luck! Question about 24hr urinalysis > I go see my neph tomorrow to see if the meds are helping. Wish me > luck. Here's my question: how often do you have to do the 24 hour > urinalysis? Guest guest
Jill, I have them once every year. I am one of the lucky people who have not seem to progress in my illness. I was diagnosed 12 years ago. Good luck with your appointment and be positive. Lorrie

Guest guest
Jill I've done 5- 24hr collections in the past 6 months. I'm told it will go down to a few a year for awhile and then yearly after that...but that will only happen after my protein spill is kept way down or stopped. Also they want to monitor it closely due to being on the prednisone. Amy I see Neph tomorrow, wish me luck! Question about 24hr urinalysis > I go see my neph tomorrow to see if the meds are helping. Guest guest
Is proteinuria the main result gained from 24hr test then Pierre? I guess that serum creatinine is the more important of the creatinine tests? One of the blood tests sent for by Neph that my GP had no idea what the results meant were for haemoglobin <sp?> any idea what this would tell? Dave I see Neph tomorrow, wish me luck! Guest guest
Hi Dave. Well, proteinuria and also creatinine clearance. Both are equally important to know. Hemoglobin (your spelling is Ok too) is to see if you are anemic. It checks your red blood cell count. Another way of measuring it is by hematocrit. Pierre Re: I see Neph tomorrow, wish me luck! Guest guest
Thanks Pierre - sorry I must have been tired - I meant immuglobin (I think) I'm sure my GP would have known otherwise? I know IgA is an immuglobin, any ideas what they can tell from blood work around that? Re: I see Neph tomorrow, wish me luck!
