Guest guest
, When I lived in Boca my daughter received special instruction services through Tina King . She worked w/my daughter from age 2-3 r hours per week and make tremendous progress. I used a Goldberg for a "short" time and was not happy w/her @ all. She was very rude and treated my then 18 mth old daughter awful. I got rid of her on the spot! Her bed side manner is less than acceptable & I made sure that I reported that to my then early steps coordinator. Hope this helps! Guest guest
How funny. We also used Tina after a negative experience with a. We LOVE Tina King and wouldn't suggest a under any circumstances! I agree that she is extremely rude and not equipt to deal with children in the Early Steps age range. Tina is firm but loving and got wonderful results with my son. We were sad to "graduate" to child find and no longer use her!Debbie Sent on the Now Network™ from my Sprint® BlackBerryDate: Tue, 5 Jan 2010 13:46:54 -0800 (PST)To: <sList >Subject: Re: PBC Early Steps Special Instruction Provider ,When I lived in Boca my daughter received special instruction services through Tina King . Guest guest
We had Stella Velez working with our son, she is great, caring, reliable, she shows a great respect for the kids, she does floortime and the most important, my son loves her, he waited for her at the door and asked for her constantly, still does. I also had Geradi but it was not a good match for him, I do not believe in time out " specially " on the first visit when your son is just 18 months old and you are try to get to know each other and build the relationship. Guest guest
Where are you in the process? Will the IFSP agree to ABA behavior instruction? You do know that Early Steps is not only suppose to help your child but they are suppose to help parents. Sometimes they give you the information about providers and you do all the work. Actually since they are Early Steps Providers and are contracted to provide you services, Early Steps should know or should find out which of their providers provides the services you need. They make it sound like they are doing you a favor when they are mandated to provide those services. If they don't have the needed services, you might try and get those services " out of network " . This process gets a little involved and if you want to weigh the options, send me an email and I'll enroll you in parent_to_parents yahoo group where you can get some advice on how to proceed. I have yet to see an Early Steps offer early and intensive intervention. Sometimes you need to push a little. She worked w/my daughter from age 2-3 r hours per week and make tremendous progress. I used a Goldberg for a " short " time and was not happy w/her @ all. She was very rude and treated my then 18 mth old daughter awful. I got rid of her on the spot! Her bed side manner is less than acceptable & I made sure that I reported that to my then early steps coordinator. Hope this helps! I was hoping to find one with a behavior background but the only one I found is in Boca (a Goldberg, BCABA). I was willing to take the drive to see her but she has limited availability so I don’t think it will work. Below are a few of the ones in my area. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
