My father was a Marine in the Korean War. I helped find a bunch of the men

from his company using addresses from 1950 and 51 (this was pre-internet,

pre-home PCs, in the early 80's. Much more difficult then.) I was in JROTC

and accused of being too " corps happy " because I was a hard-ass, unlike the

guys, who just wanted to jack off and have something to look good on their

records so they could get into service academies. I wanted a strong ROTC

program. I was going to go Navy ROTC to college and take the Marine Corps

option, until I got so fed up with the constant, blatant sexism, with being

attacked and assaulted on JROTC field trips and then being told it was my

fault because I sat at the back of the bus, of having guys call me pussy

and cunt and whore and lesbo just because I was in JROTC--I got so tired of

the constant sexism that I said fuck it, I don't want to be in the

military.
