Guest guest
I have asthma, and I know just what you mean! I don't know about the pool you were in (I'm making the assumption that it is a pool, since you mentioned water therapy), and the one I use at the physical therapy place can be almost a sauna. Heat like that can get my asthma going too, because the air just doesn't move like we are used to in that type of heat. I would take your puffer into the therapy with you, and you might want to tell the instructor or another person in the therapy group what they should do in case you need it, and can't get to it. My best friend has epilepsy, and she asked me one time whether or not she should tell the worship team that we were on at the time (these are the folks that help lead worship music in some churches) that she is epileptic. She hates telling people that, but I told her she definitely needed to tell the others, so we would all know what to do 'just in case'. Well, she did, and wouldn't you know it, several months later, she had a seizure! Fortunately, I was right there, and those that were around her and didn't know at the time, we were able to get her to rest comfortably. Something else that helped was that the keyboard player is an EMT! I've said all this to say that it never hurts to let someone know what to do if something like an asthma attack should occur. Carol Lugg I had a scare I went to water therapy today and about hald an hour into it I started to get realy wheezy and real tight. For any of you with asthma you know this is not good. I tried to relax and breathe slowly but I could not get enough air and knew I was in trouble. And wouldn't you know it, this it the first time I left my inhaler in the car in my purse. Well I get out of the pool and got dressed, as fast as I could. I was hoping I could make it across the street to my car,,,,,,,well, I did, but by then I was realy having labored breathing and not doing too good. This is the first time in over a year I got like this, and I can't imagine what caused it. I was ok the first half hour then went down hill. I took 2 puffs and got the breathing under control and drove home and then took another puff. I am relaxing now, and in the a/c so am doing much better. Boy ! I was scared. And that hasn't happened in some time,,,,,,don't you think I won't forget my inhaler again.......whew!!!!!!
