Cy that is a great idea. They even make capsules for vegetarians out of

vegetable starch...I have some empty ones here that I use for herbals. I

think I might start using them with my pred. :o) Thanks for the great

tip!

Guess, you've had several replies! I was on 40mg, alternate days--At

first, I was awake most of the night if I took it in the evening; so

now, no later than 6 p.m. Also, I had lots of energy. My head felt a

little tight in the brain area! Then, I had the flushes with heat;

later, I had the deep, inner heat sensation. This has subsided since

now I'm on 30mg on alternate days.

However, now I just feel plain dull on the prednisone day and about

30 min after I take the 10mg tab, I have these flushes that disturb

my thinking; And at one of these times, if playing the piano, I

really forget where I am in the music!!

But the protein count is going DOWN, so that's good. I've been on

this regiment since Nov, 2003.

Let us know how you're feeling now!!

Phyllis it's great to hear your protein levels are dropping too.

Oh and Jill when I was at my nephs today he commented on the redness of

my face. (this was the first time I've had a morning appointment with

him, he normally sees me late afternoon well after the pred has gotten

into my system.) He looked at me and said " wow you're really flushed

today. How long ago did you take your prednisone? " I said " under an

hour ago. " He said " Ah well that would explain the redness then. " So

my neph thinks there is a connection between the flushed face and the

pred anyhow.

Re: Pardon my whine, but Prednisone sucks!

Guess, you've had several replies! I was on 40mg, alternate days--At

first, I was awake most of the night if I took it in the evening; so

now, no later than 6 p.m. Also, I had lots of energy. My head felt a

little tight in the brain area! Then, I had the flushes with heat;

later, I had the deep, inner heat sensation.

Just had to concur about the prednisone. I was on it off an on for almost a

year. Finally I just refused to take anymore. I couldn't stand noises, any

noise would sound like fingernails on a chalk board.

It didn't hurt my stomach but it did make me ravenous. I would be standing

in front of the fridge telling myself to show a little self control. But I

truly felt like I was starving.

I felt pretty energetic for about two days and then the shaking started.

I told my hubby that if I ever have to take them again I am going to insist

on valuim to go with it and ear muffs.

Wow, I feel better for venting.

Hi ,

I did the same. I hope to never have to be on Prednisone again the rest of

my life. I just did not do well on it either. But, you can't argue the great

success so many of our members are having on it.
