Guest guest
Hi Louise. I live about 40 minutes southwest of Boston. I saw Dr. at MGH and Dr. at Children's. You saw Dr. too right? Basically, when I saw Dr. we tried that molding cup thing for a brief time, but then my daughter got too active for it. I went for a consult at Cranial Tech in CT and decided to do the band. They were going to cast her for us that day since we drove so far but they needed a script first. I called Dr. office and the secretary said he was in surgery but she said he wrote in his notes that we would try the molding cup for a couple of months then we would decide about the helmet. From that note, she faxed a prescription to CT, but it was for a helmet from NOPCO so they wouldn't take it. I then called my pediatrician who was on vacation and begged a nurse to get an okay from a covering pediatrician for the script. So, I'm not sure I would have gotten one if it wasn't for all that confusion and begging. Can you switch peds or tell your ped or Dr. that you are not comfortable not treating your child. I know Dr. told me that he did not believe heads rounded out on their own...if that's his belief, why wouldn't he be up for correcting it? Keep me posted and good luck.
