Guest guest
Sharon, they are technically correct which is why we need somereforms, but what you may need to do is to contact someone fromyour own district in your state legislator, and if that fails, to get a lawyer. This is why I just stayed with straight Medicare and myown choice of Part D. The alternative, were you living in a citywould be an HMO, but there are real problems with those, too.PPO=Preferred Provider Organization; HMO= Health MaintenanceOrganization. To make things worse, Humana and United Healthare the biggest, the richest in all of the insurance industry, and they each control nearly 50% of it.http://www.socialsecurity.gov/pgm/services.htmStart by phoning the above phone number to make sure that what you have been told is truly correct. For example,if your income is under about $1100.00, you might be eligblefor "Extra Help" in the form of SSI (Supplemental SecurityIncome and Medicaid), in which case, there IS no date ordeadline; you could then change at any time!Tell me more as you investigate this; let this be a lessonto all of us: "Read the fine print, or even have someoneelse read it to you. No one should be caught in thisidiotic profiteering mess. IF you are visually impaired, these idiotic rules may not apply to you either.Best I can do for now, maybe more later!Love and hope, Sharon and to all in this bind,nTo: Group <mserslife >Sent: Wed, January 27, 2010 3:03:23 PMSubject: n--Fw: my health care adventures with Medicare n, you were off having fun in the hospital <smiling> when I first sent this to the group. I thought I would resend it so you could see what's happening with my dumb insurance. I am stymied... Here goes:I signed up for Humana PPO that doesn't have drug coverageThen I signed up for United Health Rx for my drug coverageI got a letter from United Health Rx saying I had "dis-enrolled"I called United Health Rx and was told Medicare "dis-enrolled" meAfter numerous calls I finally got someone at Medicare saying I'm not allowed to have stand alone drug coverage when I have a PPO.I called Humana to add a separate drug coverage policy. They have several. But Humana says I am not allowed to have a separate policy with them. I said "but it's your own policy!" Doesn't matter, she said.I called Medicare back and was told I cannot change my PPO to another plan with drug coverage until the new change period which will be November 15. AND, I will be charged a minimum of $10 per month penalty for not having drug coverage.Sharonjoin me on Facebook:Sharon Mars wobbletowalk@ yahoo.comThis email is a natural hand made product.
