Guest guest
I have learned to choose my battles. They will only show G rated movies and at that age most probably show pbs cartoons and shows. This happens rarely and it annoyed me at the beginning as well, but, when put into perspective...... Subject: In this appropriate? What should I do!To: sList Date: Sunday, March 14, 2010, 8:26 AM Hello,I have a question: my three year ols son, just started pre-school last month thru the school system, he was approved for PT and OT services and full time services (6 Hours)at the Loxahatchee Groves Elementary school, last week and this week FCAT are schedule to take place at the school, he is not receiving services because the speech pathologist that goes to the class every day has been assign to FCAT testing, he did not have OT or PT and he is not getting to go to the playground because of the noise!!! instead kids stayed in the classroom watching a movie!!! How long does FCAT takes place every day? is a SIX hour testing? I would change playground for music or dancing class but no for watching a movie! Are parents inform of what type of movies kids watch at school, I am very selective about TV shows he is allow to watch and never imagined they were watching TV at school! Please let me know who shuld I contact! what should I do! Thank youLili

Guest guest
Yes, I agree... So far I had to let go many things! I am willing to cooperate, whatever the school ask for, there I am... more than the movies, I am worry about two weeks of FCAT and a week of spring break, so he will not received any OT, PT or Speech for three weeks this month! When he was with Early Steps, therapist will get sick all the time and that was affecting his development! he actually regressed during the transition to the School System. It's sad... that system does not work the way it should be and we just have to let things go. " We look bad if we claim our kids rights to appropriate education " I have a moral and ethical responsibility with my son to get him the best education possible. What he will think in the future about his mother is what really matters to me! > > > > Subject: In this appropriate? Guest guest
By law, with or without FCAT, your child is legally bound to get services that are documented in his/her IEP. If there are reasons for why these services are not being given at the typical time, then they need to be made up. Ask for documentation on when the sessions are, what they worked, etc. As far as the playground goes; by law, federal mandate, students, are to be given 30 minutes every school day of physical education. This can take place in or outside of the classroom. I agree that TV is not an option for PE. The more award you are as a parent the bigger the advocate YOU can be without having to involve others. Let the school know that you have concerns.Explain those concerns well, ask for any documentation you feel is needed to ensure that your child gets what the professionals are legally bound to give them. As far as what is alowed to be seen at school, only g movies. From: lilivallejo <lilivallejo@ yahoo.com>Subject: In this appropriate? Guest guest
I would ask for compensatory ST and OT. I did for multiple sick days with the schools ST and got it. Just CC your email request to the districts ST and OT heads and address to the principal. Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry
