Guest guest
>funny we dont attach that shit on to smokers, and smoking is >harder to quit than drinking for most. (actualy msot people who >die in AA , die from smoking related ilness according one study). >peopel dont getin same trouble alcholics get into from smoking, >so they do it longer, and untill 15 yaers ago or so, most people >could ahev found aplace at work where they could smoke. My grandmother quit smoking through a program called Smokenders, which I wish was still around. This was circa 1974 or75. I found some notes she took, and part of it was analysing how you thougth about smoking, how you felt when you smoked, how others' smoking looked to you, and you were supposed to change your smoking habits: switch brands, wait at least 15 minutes after a m eal befor you lit up (assuming you smoked after eating), wait at least 15 minutes after you'd normally light one up in the morning---it was a program that weaned one off of smoking, while making one very conscious of why you smoked in the first place. It was successful for her, and I wish it was still around. In Austin, almost all the AA meetings were smokefree (though of course people went outside and lit up afterwards) but in San , we haven't been able to find a smokefree meeting place yet (okay, since we started RR/SOS, we haven't exactly been searching out every single AA meeting place, but we have gone to 5 or 6 different places in San ). Club 12, this really big venue, has a non-smoking room, but the air supply is shared with the rest of the building, it's hard to hear, and it's a little like being in the women's section in an Orthodox synagogue. Other meeting places have a smokefree table, where you don't get smoke blown directly in your face, but you do get to inhale smokey air from all the other people in the room smoking cigarettes. Yuck. Guest guest
There has been some back and forth about smoking causing ep...I have heard of this. Apparently smoking can cause damage to the cilia in your tubes and from what I remember the it is irreverisble. This sounds like a good topic for our first newsletter...I'm going to start researching and seeing what I can find. -AmyR

Guest guest
I think I might be able to help here,The damage to cilia is not irreversible, when I had the lap to unblock both my tubes the re said that the cilia was damaged in both tubes, then when I had the lap for the ep he said that it was growing back and healthy,It took a year for that to happen but it did happen. Hope that helped RE: smoking There has been some back and forth about smoking causing ep...I have heard of this. Thanks, I've been looking at info all afternoon and have yet to come across anything that says one way or another... I didn't know that they could see the cilia when you had a lap...very cool! -AmyR
