Guest guest
She doesnt care too much yet. But she is only 6 months. I think it is 9 months when they start to really have stranger anxiety and such. And most people dont come up to her. But the few that have sometimes get a smile. Well maybe most that do get a smile. But she doesnt coo back. And they dont really coo to her, they just talk to her. Jacquie H Re: Question about babbling > Oh and my DR is great. He is totally on top of autism. But we dont know what to really look for at 6 months. ugh > Jacquie H Jacquie, how does she react to strangers at the grocery store and out in public? Do they try to coo and talk to her? How does she respond? ~ Karin

He would interact with us and a few people he knew (grandma, etc) but when people would talk to him, baby talk and tickle him or whatever, he just looked plain annoyed. Even at 6 mos. I was constantly telling people - " Don't take it personally, this is the most anti-social baby in the world " . (I didn't know) It might be an interesting test to ask someone you know who Yessenia doesn't know, to try to talk baby talk to her and engage her. Smile really big, try to play with her. I wish I was close enough to do that. I love to do this with babies! ~ Karin Also, have you tried letting her look at herself in the mirror? Does she like to do that at all? If she does, I would think that would be a big sign of " NT-ness " . LOL... I had one of those baby mirrors Jake could crawl up to and look at himself. But he wasn't interested now that I think back about it. I can't really remember him doing that. But now on the other hand at 3 1/2 ... he is enjoying looking at himself in the mirror and making faces at himself. :-)
Guest guest
Jacquie, I think she's much too young to worry about it! I know there are doctors who say they can see signs of autism in very young children, but I don't know what those signs are. I never saw them in Boone at that age. Well, he was attracted to ceiling fans but I thought that he thought they were giant mobiles and he LOVED his mobile. If I find an article I'll send it to you.
