Welcome Amy!

I'm Michele, mom of three, only the last two have been (and still are) bfing. I wish my MIL was a little more like yours.....mines the exact opposite in regards to bfing lol I get lots of stupid comments from her but I have learned to ignore her :-)

Amy,

Congratulations! That is quite an accomplishment for you. If you are

interested there is a lot of information on my website about nursing a

toddler. Welcome to the list, BTW!

I'm New Here

I just found this group. I wanted to introduce myself.

I am Amy (23), married to (26 next month) and mom to the

wonderful born 8/24/99. I have breastfeed her since birth and

plan to keep it up for I don't know how long but I do know at least a

year.

My husband was very persistant on the fact that I should breastfeed

our child. He and his siblings were breastfed until about age 3 and

his mother was involved in LLL. My family was not into

breastfeeding. My mom says she tried it out but didn't do it for

long. My sisters did not breastfeed. My sil did but not for a long

time.

Anyway, I told my husband that I would give it shot but don't expect

me to do it for too long. In my head I was thinking a few days/weeks

and that's it. and I had a bumpy start. I was sore in the

beginning and did not enjoy it. If it wasn't for my undying support

of my husband, my daughter would be on formula right now. In the

beginning, I would cry just thinking of breastfeeding her. Thank god

I didn't have any real nipple damage. He would let me squeeze the

heck out of his hand as she latched on. Well after a little lanolin

on my nipples, the pain went away and it has been a great

breastfeeding relationship since.

Here we are, just past the 10 month mark and going strong. I am very

happy and proud that we have made it this far.

Thanks! I look foward to getting involved with this board!

Amy

Nice to *meet* you!! I am , a 28-year-old stay-at-home-mom of two

boys, is 2 and is 7 months. I am married almost 5 years

now, to Demetrios.

I think it's so wonderful that your dh is so supportive. My dh has

always been supportive too. It really does help!

is exclusively breastfed and recently we started rice cereal,

however that isn't going well and so we have stopped all together. I

plan to give him some fresh squash later today. He has tried fresh

bananas and apples. The apples didn't go too well and so we won't be

having those again for a while.

My older son was breastfed for 6 months. I would have gone longer if it

weren't for the lack of support and inexperience. My MIL breastfed and

is very supportive but she doesn't understand the idea of extended

breastfeeding. My mother did not breastfeed at all but she is extremely

supportive. She was told formula is better and given a shot to dry her

milk up when my brother and I were born. I wasn't tolerating any formula

so she fed me skim milk!!! Yes, I have excema and I blame her everyday!

lol!
