Guest guest
My GP has referred me to my hospital with what I believe is plagio going by all that I have read. However, it seems that the NHS are less than helpful and so I have arranged for an appointment with Steve Mottram in Leeds. Are there any other parents in Nottingham going through the same thing I could talk to? Also what are the differences and advantages or disadvantages of the different helmet providers (helmet, starband, DOC band)

Guest guest
Hi, Welcome to the group! The DOCband and the STARband are active bands. An active band redirects the growth of the head through gentle pressure not felt by the baby. They are good for very young infants and up to 24 months. Helmets are passive, meaning they rely totally on growth. The helmet sits on the baby's head and eventually the head grows into the shape of the helmet, round. They are good for babies under 6 months as that is when the head is growing the fastest. I see that Carol gave you the link to the UK group. :-) Let us know how you make out at your appt.
