,Why don't you check both places out and see which one you feel more comfortable with? Click here to see our database listing for Conneticut. If there is an email addy for a parent listed consider contacting them for a reference. The casting is not "horrific." If it was I'm sure many of us wouldn't have pursued banding. It's much less intrusive than dd's VCUGs or a circumcision I witnessed in the NICU. It's not painful. Most kids just don't like being confined or held still. A few kids aren't even bothered by the casting. Make sure to interview the particular orthotist you will be using. Ask for before and after pictures as well as what kind of training he has. Getting someone who isn't experienced and trained can be horrific. We have had parents here who have been thrilled with Hanger, but we have a few others who regret their decision. One of the in network providers for our insurance is 3 minutes from my house. The ortho wasn't experienced and the place wasn't very kid friendly. I certainly would never have been able to put DD on the floor. So we paid out of pocket for the DOC Band and drove 45 - 60 min. We are currently on our second appeal with insurance. When DS was banded we only had to drive 10 min to get his adjustments. We were spoiled before we moved out to the boonies.Good luck with your decision.Mom to Dane (4 yo) and Cece (12 mo) DOC Grads

If you use CT, which we do and LOVE, don't worry about the casting.

It is NOT bad at all!! In fact, my little guy was SMILING while

they were doing it. Now this isn't really the norm, but it lasts

all of 10 minutes. It's just like when you take them in for

immunizations, needles hurt, but you are doing it because it is

important for their health. Please don't not consider CT (Which I

personally think is the best) just because of the banding. I

guarantee you 100% that he will not remember it....

Hello and welcome to thr group. My Daughter wore a Hanger Cranial

Band for 11 weeks and saw great correction! We loved our Orthotist

and had a wonderful experience with Hanger. The best advice I can

give you is to have a consultation with both places, Hanger and CT.

See who you feel more comfortable with and go with your gut.

Insurance denials are often appealed with success! Just keep in mind

that the real key to successful treatment for plagio is an

experienced Orthotist. Make sure that the Orthotist has treated MANY

plagio babies and that they are very knowledgable.

If you have any ?s about the Hanger Cranial Band and/or about the

scanning, you can email me at ronandjenvelez@...

Welcome. We have parents here who have used the CT in clinton and

just loved them. I also see in the insurance database that Cigna HMO

has paid for many bands, check it out to see if you see your plan. It

may take an appeal to get it done. The most important thing when

seeking treatment is the training and experience of the orthotist. We

have had many parents use the Hanger bands, some with great results

and some with poor results. Maybe someone using the facility you are

looking at can share their experiences with you. That would be most

helpful. You can make an appointment at each clinic and see what you

like better and feel more comfortable with. i used the Doc Band for

my little guy and have been so happy with the results. You can check

out his website to see the progress pics and the casting pictures. It

is at www.mybandedbaby.typepad.com The casting lasts all of about 15

minutes and is no worse than when they get a shot at the peds office.

My guy did it 4 times.

Hi ,

Welcome to the group. The casting isn't horrific, if it were my baby

wouldn't have been casted 4 times. It's really not bad and it's over

very quickly. Good luck making your decision, let us know what you decide.
