Guest guest
As regards the prognosis of people with rosacea, I prefer to look at it in a positive way. I do not want to think that I will have this condition forever and, certainly, all the dermatologists I have spoken to about it say the same thing - that you do not see old people with rosacea - and that rosacea eventually burns itself out. So, at the very least, we do not have to look forward to this condition in our twilight years! However, like , I have been told that the condition lasts loosely for between 6 months and 20 years. Not surprising as we have the same dermatologist! Some time ago, I asked if anyone was in remission and I received one reply from a person who had been in remission for a few months. That doesn't mean to say that there are not more. Having attained remission they might no longer be part of the support group. If there are any more, please e-mail the group and let us know. We could all do with some encouragement. There is an article in the archives by K Wilkin MD and he sums this question up very succinctly by saying, " I tell patients that cure is a 4-letter word and that remission is the goal of therapy. Sometimes the remission is PERMANENT " (my emphasis). So, please, anyone out there in either short-term or 'permanent' remission, LET US KNOW.
