GABA is awesome! From: mb12 valtrex [mailto:mb12 valtrex ] On Behalf Of AlbertaSent: Tuesday, March 15, 2011 3:16 PMTo: mb12 valtrex Subject: Re: Re: GABA and speech improvement HALLELUJAH! I'm adding GABA to my line of supps starting tomorrow! Holy crap, I wish I would've read about GABA sooner! I'm chasing verbal language like it's the holy grail... I hadn't come across GABA being used as a language supp yet but if GABA does it for even one of you guys, I'm trying GABA.OK, maybe i'm really tired from a head cold and all and this makes sense only to me...but GABA sounds so close to gabbing that I think it's GOTTA work for a speech supp. We just started GABA ( " Zen " capsules) this past week with the hopes that it would help with anxiety, but my son's speech improved dramatically just a couple of hours after I gave the first dose. It's difficult to say whether it's due to the GABA but the timing was very interesting to me. We gave him the GABA before his nap on Friday, and he woke up from his nap speaking clearly! It was very sudden. I didn't know that GABA is known to help with speech in some cases so I really think this may be the case for my son. What I noticed was that his speech was much easier to understand -- he had been slurring his words and was getting harder to understand, and all of a sudden we could understand every word that he was saying! -Angie>> I was reading part of Amy Yasko's book on Google books and read about how low GABA affects speech and could improve it. Anyone use this or try this ever????>

Did you have good speech experiences with GABA?  Please share!!!OK, I just sourced a GABA from AOR at a holistic pharmacy near me.  I've liked AOR's supplements and I don't want to wait another two weeks for this to come in to try it.  I'm onna ROLL with speech right now...

How much do you guys typically start with?  I got this one that's 600 mg but should I start lower?  Note to myself: I've been a wuss with supplements before and it wasn't until I gave them at much high dosages that I saw any significant changes.  Hell, the Carnosine I was doing didn't work until I tripled the dosage!  I've been cranking the CLO, the carnosine, the MB12 drops, the flax oil...it feels SO DAMNED CLOSE!   Just at the tip of my fingers but just oh-so-far-away!!!!

How much does the Yasko protocol suggest we do for speech, ?  And are there any supporting supplements I need for absorption?

GABA is awesome!

We have used 5-HTP and GABA to ease our son's anxiety. No improvements in Speech though. GABA helps my son's speech too, but it puts him to sleep and the effects don't

last very long.

I believe that some use depakote to raise GABA levels.

The specific supplement we're using is " 200 mg. of Zen " by Allergy Research

Group. It's GABA combined with L-Theanine.
