Guest guest
OK, now I have a dumb question with just reading this. When your're talking about crashing calcium right......you are saying that while hypo you can still get tingling symptoms that reflect calcium depletion. I guess that would make sense since the diet is such as it is.... so even though my surgeon found my calcium to be ok a week after surgery, if I'm experiencing numbness & tingling now I should be watching it closely? Thanks, Kathy Re: Tingling, Twinges & Spasms...oh my... > > > Well I have been getting tingling, twinges and most recently some > > > muscle spasms. Guest guest
Hi Kathy, , Sus & All, First, no question is dumb except the one you do not ask. :-) Since we don't know enough of your parathyroid history other than that your calcium level was fine a week post-op, it would B hard 2 say. It certainly wouldn't hurt 4 U 2 have some LID approved calcium citrate on hand 4 the tingles. A standing lab order from your doctor to get a calcium level check is also a good thing to have. It can save a trip to the ER. When is it right to go to the ER? When you have symptoms that don't improve with a calcium pill or two and in the time frame of ~~ 1/2 to 1 hour. If you have *any* difficulty breathing, you should go to the ED immediately~! Sus' advice about going to the ED when the numbness & tingling start up your arms & /or legs is also a good word. Hope this helps, -- Exercise daily - walk with the Lord. Kathy wrote: > OK, now I have a dumb question with just reading this. Guest guest
Excellent point - there are complications that can happen even with an excellent surgeon. Surgeons are not perfect, and not everything is in their control even if they do everything exactly as they should. There are so many factors involved. Having a good surgeon is extremely important, but it doesn't guarantee perfect results. And I hope your paras decide to behave!
