Guest guest
Looks like N.C. will follow move forward with insurance reform! Ruth Autism Insurance Bill Vote Likely Next Week. Help Needed. Autism Insurance Reform may be voted on June 30 The NC autism insurance reform bill (SB 1265) has not yet been scheduled for its next hearing. Click here for a recap. However, there is a good chance it will be discussed during the Senate Health Care Committee meeting on June 30 at 11 am in Room 544 in the Legislative Office Building. Autism Society of North Carolina (ASNC) staff work every day of the session to educate legislators about the need for and benefits of autism insurance reform in NC but we need your help and continued contacts with your hometown legislators! You are able to put the face of a real family on the need for insurance coverage for people with autism. Your story is the most powerful and persuasive message we can send. Action steps: Mark your calendars and hold June 30 at 11 am for a possible trip to the General Assembly. Plan to attend the committee meeting to show the critical importance of autism insurance coverage for the thousands of families across our state. Email the Senate Health committee and ask for their support. Click here for the committee names and links to their contact info. Thank them for supporting people with autism and their families. Tell them where you live and your connection to autism. Share your story - the issues you face every day and why autism insurance can help. Ask them to support SB 1265 to extend health insurance coverage to people with autism. Click here to send us a copy of your email so we can follow up with your legislator. Ask 5 other people to send an email. Think about people who have offered you help- family, friends, church members, neighbors. Think about people who know the importance of insurance to your family-your pediatrician, CAP worker, speech therapist, teacher, minister. Ask them all to send an email. We will let you know the date for the meeting as soon as it scheduled. Thank you for your efforts!
