Good question. We took off the expenses for the GFCF diet one year, but the next year we didn't spend enough to make it work and now we are not on that diet. I hope someone else has better information for you and us all.Rose President, The Safety Sleeper inc. I think you are referring to federal income tax deductions for children or

adults with disabilities. Most of the available tax deductions for our child's

special needs will be included as medical expenses, i.e therapies, and

activities adjunct to therapies (i.e. gymnastic classes or swim classes as an

adjunct to physical or occupational therapy). The cost of these activities as

well as transportation to and from these activities at 24 cents per mile are

deductible. Special education school tuition and books, educational dvds and

computer software, and tutoring are also deductible as a medical expense, if

related to your child's disability. Babysitters for an older child (or adult who

needs supervision) such as a patient care aide are also deductible. The extra

expense of special foods like gluten free foods above the cost of regular foods

are write-offs. Even the cost of handicap accessible home modifications (for

example, a whole house generator to accomodate a child who has breathing

difficulties due to asthma) to the extent that the cost exceeds the increase in

home value may be deducted as a medical expense. The legal cost of a medical

guardianship is also a tax deduction. Feel free to call me at 561 638-6945 if

you have any questions. I am a tax preparer as well as a special needs mom, who

has a lot of experience in this area, both personally and professionally.
