Guest guest
Here in Canada people are not supposed to have knowledge or legal contact of/with their donor family - circumstances surrounding Mike's particular case were unique. I know that for Mike, it is highly emotional - we have Bruce's picture - it makes the 'donor' so real - we look at him, in his eyes and we've listened to so many stories about him from his friends. We watch his mother on tv and read about her in the newspaper as she tries to promote MADD - because a drunk driver took her son's life - and in an indirect and weird twist of fate that same driver was part of the reason Mike is alive. Sometimes I wonder if it would be better if we didn't know, then we wouldn't be so much a part of Bruce's past life as he is our present life - he would be a figment of our imaginations, but never real - this way, it's like we can reach out and touch so many things about him. I know Mike wants his mother and father to be able to find comfort and peace in knowing that his gift was not wasted - because of them, I have my guy, has her dad, Spencer has a grampie (although Mike is not comfortable with that word) - and how do you ever thank somebody for giving you what they lost? the life of somebody you love...............it's too much to comprehend sometimes. It's been an emotional and wild ride that's for sure....................... have a great weekend folks - Mike is home for a couple of days before the funeral and has made the decision that he will play with his band tonight - he loves music and it brings him comfort, I think it's a smart decision - Patti " Assumption is the mother of all screw ups "
