Guest guest
Hi Kim, Many GPs and even ENTs are not familiar with what RAI can do to salivary glands. It causes scarring and thickening of the saliva which hinders its flow through the tiny ducts. Stones and secondary bacterial infections are possible, but generally antibiotics and anti-inflammatories do little. Stay well hydrated to thin the saliva and massage the gland toward the duct opening. Keeping salivary flow going with sour items or gum chewing between meals may help. In time the flare-ups will diminish. Hope it gets better for you soon. Donna (Kathleen's mom)
