Guest guest
, Thanks for all you do, first off. Second, I was thinking it might be exciting and inspiring to pass this on for the benefit of parents with children with ASD, specifically Asperger's. My son who is 9 years old and has Asperger's is musically gifted. There is an old soul inside that body of his and a mind to match. This Friday night, May 14, he will be performing at the Tinsel Town Cabaret at Volunteer Park in Plantation. This is a talent show for which nearly 50 people, both kids and adults, tried out. Ultimately 17 are in the show. He will be singing "Oh Darling" by Lennon and McCartney. I know I am his Mom and all, but believe me when I say he is amazing. I tell Jalen all the time that with Asperger's comes many challenges but also some wonderful gifts. Our happiness in life comes from deciding which list we choose to prioritize and develop. I know it is that way of looking at things that has made what was originally a devastating diagnosis into a gift. Sure, I would have preferred that my son had no additional differences that make "fitting in" difficult. But, he is interesting, creative, funny, talented, logical and more times than not the most entertaining person in the room. If anyone would like to see him live, please come to Volunteer Park on W.Sunrise Blvd in Plantation, Friday May 14 at 7:30pm. If you'd like to see him in action but can't attend, please visit www.youtube.com/jalentube Thanks and best to all working on the puzzle one piece at a time.
