Guest guest
I've returned from the GI specialist from whom I requested and got acidophilus capsules and I've taken two of them already; also I took Acyclovir - just in case it's a cold-sore like thing (I get them and also cold sores and sometimes I take Acyclovir for the canker sores also); and then I took oxycodone; and bathed my mouth in Nystantin; and rinsed and rerinsed it with salt water; and of course used lots of the Chloraseptic cherry lozenges; and used the Orajel in between; and drank lots of water - and I'm about to scream with pain. It looks like the tongue has blisters in the ulcerated area. If it doesn't improve I don't think I'll have any option but to go to the local hospital ER, but I can't imagine what more can be done for me. Do you have any more ideas? I'm really desperate here. Guest guest
-Hi Munira: I don't know how your gums are but one time about 10 years ago I had stomatitis that is sores in the gums in the tongue, everywere, usually you can get when your inmune system is under stress, you cann't eat I used to just drink using a syringe and took me a long time figure out that as most as I was washing or rinse my mouth tryin to clean with listerines or any mouthwash never help. What happen I was making anallergic reaction putting so many thing in my mouth to " clean " when I realize that I was hurting myself because everything bothers me more than feel any relieve I started to wash just with eferdent, not even toothbrush, I use a gaze instead. Don't try to use any anesthesic either is going to irritate your mucosa even more. Try just to take something for pain and rinse with the eferdent. I hope works, is going to take a littl time just drink a lot don';t get dehidrated. I hope it works Pat-- In Thyca@y..., " Munira " <jalasana@q...> wrote: > I've returned from the GI specialist from whom I requested and got > acidophilus capsules and I've taken two of them already; also I took > Acyclovir - just in case it's a cold-sore like thing (I get them and also > cold sores and sometimes I take Acyclovir for the canker sores also); and > then I took oxycodone; and bathed my mouth in Nystantin; and rinsed and > rerinsed it with salt water; and of course used lots of the Chloraseptic > cherry lozenges; and used the Orajel in between; and drank lots of water - > > and I'm about to scream with pain. Guest guest
If it wasn't for the RAI, I would say this sounds like an auto-immune problem a friend of mine had many years ago. Sore and blisters on her tongue and inside her mouth. It was finally treated with cortisone. Everytime she went to the dentist it flared up again. I definitely would lay off the salt water, it will only increase the pain. Isn't nystatin for yeast or thrush? I understood that would present itself as white patches. Not blisters. I think you have two separate issues here: Your throat and your mouth. If your insurance will cover ER that might be the best place to go - or to a walk-in clinic. Unless you can get an emergency appointment with both an ENT and a dermatologist. Helen, TT 2/02 RAI 4/02 Scan 5/02 HP Modesto, CA
Guest guest
Munira The lozenges are almost certainly full of citric acid, which is going to hurt on ulcers. Stop them immediately. All the rest of the self-medication is not working. In your situation I would stop EVERYTHING apart from the warm saline (0.9% salt in water, about a level teaspoon per pint), and reassess after 2 or 3 days. Decide on 1 remedy at a time, by looking at the symptoms and reading the instructions on the packet, and give it an opportunity to work on its own. I don't like the expression 'drinking plenty', for some it means 2 litres a day (fine), for others it means 2 litres an hour (not fine).
