Guest guest
Hi I am new to this group and we are moving to broward county, my son is pdd-nos and has been in a catholic school until now. He is going to middle school next year, and I am looking for recomendation for midddle schools in broward county, right now because he was in private school, he does not have a iep, he has a ISP is whta they call when they go to a private school, but stil receive services from the county. My plan is put him in a public school for one year in order to get the mackay and then move him to a private school. Any recomendations, he will need a small classroom setting because he needs a lot of help in reading and thinking skills. We would like to choose the neighborhood based on the school , so thats why I need your help here. Thanks helen
Guest guest
My son did ok at Tequesta Trace middle school in Weston. He has the same diagnosis as your son and has learning disabilities. We moved here 3 years ago from NY. He became close friends with a couple of boys there and is still in touch with them despite attending a different high school. He goes to American Academy in Plantation for HS. One surprise we had with the McKay scholarship is the value of it vs. tuition. It only provides the amount it would have cost to educate the student where he lives. It only covers about half of my son's tuition. That's a big bill we did not expect. NYC paid 100% for his education. Good luck.
